Ajumma’s: Popular Korean Restaurant With Pork Belly Scrambled Egg Rice, Beef Kalbi And More

Ajumma’s has affordable and popular Korean food in Singapore

As much as I love the vibe and homely cooking of Korean family restaurants, they aren’t always the most affordable or convenient of options. Thankfully, fast casual Korean chains such as Ajumma’s exist, offering homely Korean dishes that don’t break the bank.

With a name and logo that looks like your classical Korean auntie, Ajumma’s is a popular eatery known for its generous portions of everyone’s favourite Korean dishes. Aside from their extremely busy branch in Funan, you can also find outlets in heartland areas such as Bukit Panjang and Punggol!

The star item at Ajumma’s is the Signature Beef Kalbi ($16.90++), which has slices of USDA prime beef stewed in their sweet-savoury house marinade and then tossed in a wok for maximum wok hei. Juicy and tender, it comes served with complimentary rice and four side dishes to complete your meal.

Another must-try here is the Crispy Samgyeopsal with Creamy Scrambled Eggs & Soy-Yuja Sauce ($14.90). Slices of samgyeopsal, AKA grilled pork belly, are laid over a bed of fluffy, sunshine-yellow eggs and rice, drizzled with a unique yuzu-soya sauce mix for a savoury, citrusy flavour.

If you’re more of a soup person, you can also try the popular Crispy Samgyeopsal Kkal Guksu with Pork Bone Broth ($14.90). The rich and hearty bone broth is perfect for rainy days, and the melt-in-your-mouth pork belly slices and al-dente noodles make for a meal that warms your heart and stomach.

Something to look out for is their value-for-money weekday rush hour ramyeon set at just $9.90++! From 3pm to 5pm, choose from three different varieties of ramyeon: Kimchi, Spicy, or Beef, and get a complimentary drink and unlimited sides to go with your choice.

Finally, get their Fried Chicken & Crispy Toppoki with Sweet-Spicy Sauce ($11.90++) if you are craving a simple snack or want something to share with the table. More sweet than spicy, Ajumma’s version of this classic street food features some crunchy, juicy fried chicken and crispy yet chewy rice cakes coated generously with sticky red sauce.
