A two-minute walk from Farmway LRT Station, the brand-new Anchorvale Village Hawker Centre features an impressive total of 650 seats and 36 stalls, all within a well-furnished and ventilated space. If you’re unsure of what to try at this new Sengkang facility, then keep reading, for we’ll introduce you to 10 Anchorvale Village Hawker Centre stalls that are worth a shot.


1. Pin Wei Chee Cheong Fun


The Michelin-recommended Pin Wei Chee Cheong Fun is one of the famed additions to Anchorvale Village Hawker Centre’s lineup. Freshly made with a three-generation-old recipe, you can expect the Cheong Fun ($3.50) here to be silky and sweet-savoury. If you’d like to enjoy your rice rolls with fillings, opt for the classic Char Siew Cheong Fun ($4.50) or Prawns Cheong Fun ($5.50). If you have more funds to spare, there’s also the Scallops Cheong Fun ($6.50) to try.

2. Eng Kee Chicken Wings


Another easily-recognisable name on this list, Eng Kee serves up excellent plates of Chicken Wings (price TBD). Each piece is said to be crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, with a good batter-to-meat ratio to ensure the experience is seamless. Besides their famous chicken wings, Eng Kee is also known for their economic bee hoon store, which is often paired with ingredients such as otah, luncheon meat, and you guessed it, chicken wings.

3. Original Simon Road Hokkien Mee


Hokkien mee enthusiasts will undoubtedly be familiar with Original Simon Road Hokkien Mee, the popular stall whose original outlet can be found in Kovan. You can expect similar flavours at this Anchorvale Village Hawker Centre outlet, with a good amount of flavourful zhup, wok hei, and seafood ingredients in each plate of Fried Hokkien Mee (from $5). Don’t forget to mix in the duo of house-made chilli that accompanies each plate: a bright, sourish and spicy chilli that’s spiked with lime juice, as well as a sweeter, more mellow-flavoured sambal.

4. Munchi Pancakes


Beloved min jiang kueh brand Munchi Pancakes’ latest outlet can be found in Anchorvale Village Hawker Centre. You can expect the same fillings the brand is known for, including the classic Peanut ($1.60), Black Sesame ($2), and Biscoff ($2.50). If you’d like something a little less hearty, opt for the “Munchi Pancake” selection, which are sort of circular, compact pancakes filled with flavours such as Coconut ($1.80), Oreo Cheese ($2.20), and Thai Milk Tea ($2.20).

5. Thai Khanom


Thai Khanom offers Thai Fried Banana (price TBD) which, for those unfamiliar, is a delightful treat featuring ripe bananas coated in a light, crispy batter, then deep-fried to golden perfection. In addition to this, the stall will sell other Thai-style fried snacks such as Fried Yam Chips and Sweet Potato Fritters, which are great for any time of the day. Due to the popularity of these snacks, you may have to wait a while for your order to be ready!

6. Hakka Leipopo

While the earthy, herbal, and slightly bitter flavours of lei cha may not appeal to everyone, those who consider themselves fans of the dish will find plenty to like at Hakka Leipopo. An a la carte set of Hainan Lei Cha ($5) here gets you a hearty bowl of green tea soup accompanied by a variety of toppings such as chopped peanuts, sesame seeds, pickled radish, tofu, and a mix of vegetables. You can also enjoy these with some yong tau foo ingredients, with prices starting at $8.30.

7. Soldier Chicken

Soldier Chicken is where you’ll find old-school Western delights at Anchorvale Village Hawker Centre. Try dishes such as Chicken Chop with Pepper Sauce ($7.50), which features a sizeable, juicy pork chop slathered in a rich black pepper sauce, joined by a generous serving of fries and coleslaw. Other worthwhile dishes here include the Beef Ribeye with Pepper Sauce ($15.90), Fish & Chips with Lemon Sauce ($7.50), and the signature Whole Soldier Fried Chicken ($12.50).

8. Kawan Bowl

Kawan Bowl is essentially the halal version of the ever-popular Danlao, so you can expect moreish bowls of scrambled egg rice bowls here. Options include the Chicken Luncheon Egg Rice ($5.90), Taliwang Chicken Cutlet Egg Rice ($6.90), and Ayam Berempah Egg Rice ($6.90). If you’d rather have something that’s not based on chicken, try the Banana Leaf Otah Leg Rice ($6.90) or the Sambal Prawn Egg Rice (price TBD).

9. Ah Tan Chicken Wings

A lot of good has been said about Ah Tan Chicken Wings, a stall particularly known for its har cheong gai AKA prawn paste chicken. While you can order the Prawn Paste Wings ($2.20) a la carte, which gets you one wing and one drumlet, the chicken is best enjoyed with some rice in the Wing Wing Set ($6). If you’re more of a fan of chicken cutlets, you can choose to have the Atas Cutlet ($7.70) instead.

10. 97 Nasi Lemak

The Chinese-style nasi lemak at 97 Nasi Lemak isn’t just delectable—it’s also really value for money. The most affordable plate here, the Sotong Fillet Set, will set you back just $3.20, and comes with a pile of fluffy coconut rice, ikan bilis, sunny-side up egg, deep-fried sotong fillet and more. Even the Chicken Wing Set, which swaps the fillet for some crispy chicken wings, costs a reasonable $4.
