Beauty In The Pot NEX Opens With Limited-Edition Flaming Drunken Chicken Broth And Unicorn Ice Cream

Beauty In The Pot NEX opens

Yet another Beauty In The Pot, the chain’s seventh outlet, opens today at NEX. In celebration of this opening, this new unicorn-themed branch will offer an outlet-exclusive Flaming Moutai Herbal Drunken Chicken Broth for a limited time only.

The launch of this seasonal hotpot broth coincides with the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Singapore and China. It features Moutai, a super atas and potent Chinese liquor with a staggering 38-53% alcohol volume that’s served at every state banquet in China and the diplomatic gift of choice.

If you’re already a fan of the usual Herbal Drunken Chicken Broth ($12 / $22) at Beauty In The Pot, you’re in for a treat because you can enjoy the Flaming Moutai Herbal Drunken Chicken Broth at no additional cost! For $5.50, you also have the option of adding an extra shot of Moutai into the soup.

To best appreciate the difference Moutai makes, we sampled the original Herbal Drunken Chicken Broth before the Moutai was added. The clear soup was savoury and already punchy with the taste of rice wine, fragrant with the plentiful herbs visible in the pot.

The Moutai is lit on fire in a ladle at your table, then poured into the soup, which is also momentarily set aflame. The mini pyrotechnics will wow you, but it is very short-lived, so get your cameras ready.

The soup became richer and more intense when the Moutai was added, but the taste of alcohol might be an acquired one for some ─ not everybody at the table enjoyed it.

Along with our soup, we had some signature favourites from the hotpot menu, including the Signature Homemade Fish Tofu ($2.40 each) and the Ebiko Prawn Paste ($18.90). The fish tofu had an interesting, spongy texture that absorbed all the scrumptious soup.

Another must-order at Beauty In The Pot has to be the Fried Beancurd Skin (from $5.40) If, like me, you’ve tried the ones in the supermarket, you’ll know these are superior in taste and finish, whether you dip it in the soup for the recommended three seconds, or longer.

Hotpot isn’t complete without meat, and the US Wagyu Beef (from $24.90) ticked that box for us. The highly marbled meat arrived in style on an ice platter bubbling with dry ice smoke. I lightly cooked mine in the Beauty Collagen Broth (from $15.50) because there’s no better indulgence than having fatty, melty wagyu in fattier, collagen-rich broth.

For a limited time only, end your meal at Beauty In The Pot NEX with unicorn ice cream that comes to the table on a unicorn ice cream trolley! The ice cream, only available from 5 October, comes in swirls of candy pink and blue, with surprise little gummy gems within.

In conjunction with their opening, Beauty In The Pot has a series of fun activities lined up:

  • Post a photo of yourselves on any social media platform from 5 October to 20 October 2020 with the hashtags #BITPNEX and #Paradisegroupsg, and stand a chance to be one of seven winners receiving a $100 Paradise Group dining voucher.
  • Celebrate your birthday at Beauty In The Pot from 17 October 2020 and receive a special gift!
  • Get an exclusive pink canvas bag with home-made crispy nuts, cotton candy, a $30 dining voucher and more from 10 October 2020, while stocks last.

If you’re looking for more dining options in NEX, Fong Sheng Hao and Five Guys are also coming to the Serangoon mall!
