Famous Bedok Chwee Kueh Lowers Price To Just $0.60

Bedok Chwee Kueh has $0.60 chwee kueh

It’s rare to be able to find chwee kueh under $1 these days, but the famed Bedok Chwee Kueh in Bedok Interchange Hawker Centre is one of the few exceptions: they’ve recently lowered their prices to charge only $0.60 per chwee kueh!

Last March, the stall started charging $1.20 for their chwee kueh, as they doubled the size and tried to increase their business efficiency. Larger chwee kueh meant having less moulds to wash, citing that they previously had to wash over 10,000 of these moulds.

The move wasn’t really embraced by customers who didn’t want upsized chwee kueh. If you’re in that camp, you’ll be happy to know that the price drop goes hand in hand with the fact that they’re also reverting back to their old, smaller chwee kueh size, according to a user in the Can Eat! SG hawker food Facebook group.

However, not all outlets have taken this price change on. So far, it’s only the Bedok Interchange outlet that has adopted this. They have six outlets, including one in Queen Street, Ang Mo Kio and more, so here’s hoping the other stalls pick this up too.

For those who aren’t the most familiar with the brand, Bedok Chwee Kueh constantly garners long queues all day round at their Bedok Interchange premises, with patrons waiting for their fix of the stall’s signature snack. Bedok Chwee Kueh has also been featured in the Michelin Guide for their chwee kueh!
