Just last month, we wrote about the annual Chope Diners’ Choice Awards, where foodies could vote for their favourite restaurants and bars across eight different categories. This time, we’re back again with the results: here are the eight best restaurants in Singapore for 2022. Time to get your reservations in stat, before they’re all booked out!
Entering the scene with a bang is new entrant Kaarla Restaurant & Bar, awarded New Restaurant of the Year. Centrally located in Raffles Place, this mod-Australian restaurant serves delicious lunch sets at $52++ for two courses, and $67++ for three—perfect for business meals and quick catchups with friends. If you’re visiting for dinner instead, splurge on their Market Menu ($160++ per person), with highlights such as Salt Cured Kangaroo and Australian Market Oyster. Click here to book a table, and don’t forget to check out their other a la carte dishes too!
If there’s one place you must head to, it’s Fat Cow, which has won Restaurant of the Year for five years in a row. Click here to book a table at Fat Cow stat, as they’re known to be super popular for special occasions! You’ll be treated to an extensive selection of Wagyu-focused dishes, including the showstopping 21 Days Dry-Aged Nagasaki A5 Wagyu Striploin ($168++), a 150g slab of marbled, beefy goodness. Another popular item is The Fat Cow Wagyu Sandwich ($88++), featuring toriyama A4 tenderloin stacked between toasted brioche.
Monti takes the win for Most Romantic Restaurant of the Year, and it’s not hard to see why. Located right smack in the CBD, the classy Italian restaurant gets you some of the best waterfront views. Click here to reserve a table and choose from a variety of menus depending on the time of the day. For example, there are weekday lunch sets from $48++ for two courses, and a Communal Set Menu at $110++ per person, which comes with options such as Ricotta Cheese Ravioli and Roasted Thyme Cod.
Avid bar hoppers can bookmark Hopscotch, which has three outlets: Gardens by the Bay, Capitol, and Gillman Barracks. They’ve recently won Bar of the Year at the Chope Diners’ Choice Awards, too! Over at the Capitol location, you’ll find Asian fusion dishes such as Scallop and Uni Risotto ($28++) and a laksa-inspired Katong Lobster Roll ($30), along with craft cocktails including the Garden City Sling ($24++): a gin-based beverage with floral and fruity notes.
Here’s even better news: enjoy 10% off at the Gillman Barracks and Capitol outlets when you buy cash vouchers from Chope!
Weekend brunch gets an upgrade at Wild Honey, known for their extensive all-day dining menu. This ‘Brunch Spot of the Year’ serves classic brekkie mains such as the English ($29++): streaky bacon, pork and fennel sausage, house-baked beans and more, paired with their signature brioche and eggs cooked to your preference. The Norwegian ($30++) is another favourite; it comes with sliced avocado, grilled asparagus, poached eggs wrapped with Norwegian smoked salmon, and finished with savoury ikura. Don’t forget to get a headstart on reserving a spot for your next weekend brunch!
If you’re on the hunt for a halal-friendly spot to impress a special someone, look no further. The Halia at Singapore Botanic Gardens won the Halal Restaurant of the Year title, so you know this one’s a legit recommendation.
A must-try is the vegetarian Puff Pastry Parcel ($27++), comprising roasted butternut squash with baby spinach and feta cheese, topped with a refreshing herb salad. There’s also the signature Chilli Crab Spaghettini ($26++), a spicy, sweet, and tangy main dish inspired by the Singapore classic. Snag a 10% discount when you buy a deals voucher on Chope!
Dine with a view at Jypsy One Fullerton, voted for Best Alfresco Dining of the Year. Click here to reserve a seat at this casual restaurant bar, which serves up contemporary Japanese fare in a relaxed space that overlooks the bay. Featuring Wagyu patties, crispy onions, and a gochujang-spiked mayo, the Little Jypsy Burgers ($18++) are great if you need something to pad your stomach before the heavy drinking. They’ve also got sushi rolls for sharing, in flavours such as Spicy Lobster Roll ($26++) and Aburi Tuna Roll ($21++).
Coming in as best Dessert Spot of the Year is L’éclair Pâtisserie, Singapore’s first éclair specialty shop. You can get your sweet tooth fix at two outlets: a dine-in cafe in Singapore Shopping Centre, and a takeaway-only kiosk in Jewel Changi Airport. Popular éclair flavours are the Ispahan ($8.50++) and Salted Caramel ($7.50++). You can also book a table to order other savoury bakes and an All Day Tea Set ($40++ for two people) at their cafe.
Get up to 24% off the Signature Éclairs when you buy the deals voucher from Chope! Do note that this deal only applies to the Jewel outlet.
