Bugis Junction Food Guide: 10 Places For $1.80 Boat Noodles, Mala Tang And More

Best Bugis Junction food places

Bugis is blessed with plenty of food options, and that’s partly because the two malls in the area are loaded with eateries. There’s Bugis+ and, of course, Bugis Junction, the focus of this listicle. With eats ranging from French-Japanese fusion to Korean chimaek, we introduce you to 10 Bugis Junction food places you should check out.

1. LeNu Chef Wai’s Noodle Bar

When it comes to Chinese noodles, LeNu Chef Wai’s Noodle Bar is one of the more prominent franchises in Singapore, and it’s no surprise that they have an outlet in a mall as well-known as Bugis Junction. The signature Braised Wagyu Beef Noodle ($17.90++), which features silky la mian noodles, flavourful broth, and juicy pieces of beef, is a must-try. Another popular pick is the Nagano Pork Belly with Tomato Broth ($16.30++), with its fragrant tomato-based soup and succulent pork slices.

Unit number: #B1-22
Opening hours: Mon-Fri 11am to 10pm, Sat-Sun 10:30am to 10pm

2. Miam Miam French Japanese Cafe Kitchen

With its enticing French-Japanese fusion dishes, Miam Miam French Japanese Cafe Kitchen is a great dining spot at Bugis Junction. A dish such as the Creamy Miso Squid with Squid Ink Pasta ($27.90++) is a delicious example of the two culinary interests, with umami notes from miso merging well with the cream and al dente squid ink aglio olio. For desserts, we recommend the fluffy Berry Loving Fuwa Fuwa Pancake ($15.80++).

An oft-mentioned place for Thai noodles is The Original Boat Noodle, which has several branches across the country, including the one here at Bugis Junction. Its Boat Noodles ($1.80) come in the standard combinations of noodles and meat. The soup choices are Pathumthani, made with dark soya sauce, Ayutthaya, which carries a coconut flavour, Sweet Kuey Chap, as well as the popular Creamy Tom Yum.

4. Malaysia Boleh!

If you’re a fan of Malaysian food, then Malaysia Boleh! should be right up your alley. Situated on the third floor of the mall, this vibrant food court has a whopping 12 stalls. Some of the highlights here include the Char Kway Teow ($5), Claypot Rice ($5.50), and BBQ Sambal Stingray (from $15) stalls. Remember to get the addictive Ipoh White Coffee ($2) while you’re there, too.

5. Zhang Liang Mala Tang

Zhang Liang Mala Tang, which originated from Harbin, China, boasts a global presence with over 5,800 stores. To experience their take on mala tang, head over to their Bugis Junction branch, where their soup base is made from beef bones, resulting in a luscious and creamy broth. You can create your own customised bowl by selecting from a variety of ingredients, such as udon, vegetables, mushrooms, prawns, scallops, and fresh fish slices. The cost is determined by the weight of the ingredients, starting at $2.98+/100g.

From classics such as the crispy and meaty Tonkatsu ($18.30++) to the much-loved Hamburger Steak ($17.80++), there’s something for everyone here at MA MAISON. And if you’d like to get something for sharing, the Chef’s Pizza ($17.80++) fits the bill nicely.

7. Chir Chir Fusion Chicken Factory

Visit Chir Chir Fusion Chicken Factory, an extension of one of Korea’s most prominent fried chicken franchises, to enjoy delicious chimaek. Be sure to try the Honey Butter Chicken ($31.90++), which is a delectable combination of boneless chicken leg meat, tteokbokki, and potato wedges, sprinkled with a creamy powder, sliced almonds, and dried cranberries for a sweet and savory taste. We recommend pairing that with the Chir Cream Beer ($14.50++/$19.90++), a mug of 350ml or 650ml draught beer with fresh whipped cream on top.

8. Big Fish Small Fish

Known for its affordable fish and chips, Big Fish Small Fish is a fuss-free option at Bugis Junction. The most affordable of their fish and chips sets is the Dory ($14.90), which comes with fries, a choice of two sides, and tatar sauce. You can also choose to have the Fish & Crisps (from $12.90) instead, which swaps the fries for crunchy crisps. The brand has multiple outlets islandwide, too, including Tampines Mall and JCube.

9. Flipper’s

While the previous entry Miam Miam offers pancakes, Flipper’s is perhaps the better option if you’re only there to eat those sweet treats. This famous Japanese cafe is home to some exceptional pancakes—just try the Kiseki Pancake Maple Butter Cream ($16.80) and you’ll quickly realise that it’s as airy, fluffy, and soft as it gets. The Kiseki Pancake Matcha and Azuki Bean Pasta ($19.80) is a great pick, too, as it adds the mild, earthy bitterness of matcha to this red bean and cream combo.

Unit number: #01-97
Opening hours: Mon-Thurs 11am to 9pm, Fri 11am to 9:30pm, Sat 10:30am to 9:30pm, Sun 10:30am to 9pm

10. Josh’s Grill

The meat dishes at Josh’s Grill are known to be smoky, succulent, and value-for-money. The Char-grill Chicken with Homemade Onion Sauce, for instance, will set you back just $12.90++, and a choice of two sides joins a slab of juicy chicken. If you’re looking for a heavier meal, the Char-grill Chicken Chop & Dory Fish ($19.90++) is a good shout, as it pairs the aforementioned chicken with moist and well-grilled fish.
