Buttrmilk: Halal Fried Chicken And Waffles Diner Opens In The East

Buttrmilk fried chicken and waffles

If you’ve ever read our KINEX food guide, you know the new mall in the East is a hotbed for dining options, from the likes of 800° Degrees Woodfired Kitchen to Beauty In A Pot. Joining the list is the newly opened Buttrmilk, a fried chicken and waffles eatery that is halal-certified.

Established by the folks behind fast-food chain Fatburger, the food at Buttrmilk is similarly hearty and all-American. As their name suggests, the eatery specialises in buttermilk waffles and fried chicken, done Southern-style.

The fried chicken here is fresh, not frozen, and marinated for 24 hours in a secret recipe before cooking. The waffles, on the other hand, are fluffy, and have a distinct tang from the buttermilk.

Hungry single diners can order the Buttrmilk Original Combo ($13), which comes with boneless chicken breast, a waffle, and your choice of sauce. There are seven different sauces to choose from: Chili Sriracha, Buffalo Hot Sauce, Hot Honey, Thai Sweet Chili, Soy Garlic, BBQ and Maple Syrup. The meal also comes with a side of fries or tater tots, and a drink of your choice.

If you want to level up your chicken and waffles, then try the Hot Clucker ($14), where the combo gets elevated thanks to a jalapeño and cheddar waffle, housemade slaw, and hot honey. There’s also the unique Sweet Clucker ($14), with the sweet-and-salty combo of chicken, waffles, strawberry jam, and a fried egg.

Meals for families are also available, with prices starting at $30, and moving up to $88. Other menu items include cheese fries, and fried chicken sandwiches. The latter starts from $13.50 for a meal, and you can choose either brioche or waffles as your bun.

If you’re team desserts for waffles, fret not, as Buttrmilk has both a Nutella Swirl ($6.50), and a Strawberry Swirl ($6.90) option to round off your meal.
