10 Cheapest Michelin Food In Singapore Ranked According To Price

Cheap Michelin food can be found

Myth: Michelin meals are all about the glamour, and unless your house is one of those that has gold taps, you will never be able to afford a Michelin meal. Though many associate atas with Michelin-starred restaurants, there are such places in Singapore that can blow your taste buds away without blowing up your savings account too. Here are 10 Michelin-starred restaurants, with the first one being the cheapest, you can get some fancy and not-too-pricey chow at.

1. Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice & Noodle

A plate of Soya Sauce Chicken Rice from Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice And Noodle will only set you back $2, making it the cheapest Michelin-starred dish in the world. Queues here can take hours and you’ll have to make your way down early to avoid the disappointment of the food selling out. Alternatively, check out their new restaurant that’s on the same street. Hawker Chan serves the same fare in an air-conditioned environment, but at slightly higher prices.

Address: 335 Smith Street, #02-126, Chinatown Complex Market & Food Centre, Singapore 050335
Opening hours: Daily 11am to 8pm, or when sold out (usually around 3pm)

2. Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle

Source

When Nathan Hartono said he craved bak chor mee when he was competing overseas, I mentally recommended Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle to him. The noodles here cost $5 to $10, which sounds pricey for hawker food, but is justified by a heaping pile of ingredients. Queues here were long to begin with, so be prepared to wait even longer now.

Address: Blk 466, Crawford Lane, #01-12, Singapore 190466
Opening hours: Daily 9:30am to 9pm, closed every first and third Monday of the month

3. Candlenut

Source

You don’t hear of a Michelin-starred Peranakan place every day, especially one with affordable prices. With dishes ranging from $12++ to $32++ during lunch, you’ll be able to feast on Candlenut‘s tasty food without breaking the bank. Try Homemade Kueh Pie Tee ($12++) that comes with braised turnip, pork belly and prawns, as well as Buah Keluak ($22++) made with their signature black nut sambal.

Address: 17A Dempsey Road, Singapore 249676
Opening hours: Sun-Thur 12pm to 2:30pm, 6pm to 9pm, Fri-Sat 12pm to 2:30pm, 6pm to 10:30pm

4. The Song Of India

Source

The Song of India might just be one of the cheapest on this list if you consider the fact that they offer a Buffet Lunch for $29.90++ daily. Items on the buffet menu changes daily, but you can expect a range of salad, starters, mains and desserts. Their dinner sets are pretty reasonable too. For $49++, you can get a vegetarian set that includes a kebab, two curries, two vegetable dishes, a lentil dish, rice, and bread. Self-proclaimed carnivores can add $10 for a similar set that comes with meat.

Address: 33 Scotts Road, Singapore 228226
Opening hours: Daily 12pm to 3pm, 6pm to 11pm

5. Shisen Hanten

With two Michelin stars, there’s no doubt Shisen Hanten serves food worth making a detour for. They offer Si Chuan dishes with Japanese influences, so you can expect familiar food and a Szechwan Hot and Sour Soup with Seafood ($14++) you can actually drink. A must order here is London Roast Duck ($34++ for half duck, $68++ for whole duck) made with Irish duck, which produces more succulent meat.

Address: 333 Orchard Road, Level 35, Mandarin Orchard Singapore, Singapore 238867
Opening hours: Daily 12pm to 3pm, 6pm to 10pm

6. Osia

Located within Resorts World Sentosa, Osia is a steak and seafood grill that uses ingredients air-flown from Australia. A 2-course lunch here costs $35++ and, if you’d like to, you can add $10 for another course. The lunch menu includes items such as Pork Flank Steak and Braised Oxtail, as well as an interesting Valrhona Hot Chocolate Soup that comes with black peppered ice-cream.

7. Alma

Source

Alma stands out from the crowd by serving Spanish food with an Asian twist. If you’re not sure where to start, go for their 3-course lunch ($39++) that offers options such as Australian Wagyu and Boston Lobster. For something a little fancier, their 6-course dinner menu ($138++) aims to please with fancy dishes such as Foie Gras and Iberico Pork Cheek.

Address: 22 Scotts Road, Goodwood Park Hotel, Singapore 228221
Tel: 6735 9937

Not only is Putien Restaurant easy on your wallet, their authentic Heng Hwa cuisine will please ah gong ah ma too. You can get a Premium Set Lunch at $48 for two people, and eating here can be even cheaper if you order from their a la carte menu. Don’t leave without trying Fried Heng Hwa Bee Hoon ($8.90/$17.80/$26.80) that features sun-dried vermicelli milled by hand in Putian, China. The result is a plate of chewy, fluffy and flavourful bee hoon well loved by regulars.

9. Terra

Source

Terra brands themselves as a Tokyo-Italian restaurant, but that doesn’t mean they’re gonna serve you run-of-the-mill Japanese pasta. You’ll be having fine Italian dishes made by Chef-Owner Seita Nakahara, who uses ingredients air-flown from Japan. You could do a 3-course lunch for $42++, but we recommend Seita’s Omakase ($128++/$168++/$208++) where the chef decides your dinner for you. Uni Pasta, their star dish, is often served when you opt for omakase and it’ll win you over with its savoury, creamy flavours.

Address: 54 Tras Street, Singapore 078993
Opening hours: Mon-Fri 12pm to 2pm, 6:30pm to 10pm, Sat 6:30pm to 10pm

10. Forest

Source

Helmed by Chef Sam Leong and his wife, Forest offers contemporary Chinese cuisine. Their cheapest 3-course lunch set is priced at $42++, but feel free to order a la carte dishes if you want the numbers to go even lower. King Prawn ($22++) baked with Parmesan and Australian Beef Tenderloin Cubes ($26++) are two of the eight main courses offered in their lunch menu. You can also pay a little more for a Sunday Lunch Set ($68++) that has Alaskan King Crab Meat served in a cone, or go all out and indulge in a Gastronomic 8-Course Tasting Menu ($198++) for dinner. With Wagyu, lobster, and abalone on the menu, your meal will be nothing short of exceptional.
