This Lush Forest-Themed Hotel Buffet Has Free-Flow Tom Yum Goong, Salmon Sashimi And More

Forest-themed buffet at Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore

If you’ve never found a reason to head East for a feast, here’s one that’s absolutely ‘gram-worthy too━the Greenhouse dinner buffet at Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore. With five different kitchens spanning multiple cuisines, including a super legit Thai counter helmed by native chefs, it’s safe to say a meal here takes you on a trip around the world.

Getting to Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore takes a while━the luxury resort sits within Laguna National Golf Resort Club━but the journey is worth it. It’s no misnomer that the restaurant is christened Greenhouse, because it literally feels like you’ve stepped into one.

And then there’s the arching glass dome, reminiscent of Jewel or the Flower Domes at Gardens by the Bay, with views overlooking the tranquil Masters Course.

If the aesthetics of Greenhouse aren’t enough to sway you, the food ought to be. We all rejoiced when it was announced that self-serve buffets are back━and here at Greenhouse, it’s sufficiently spread out such that you’ll never feel cramped while getting your food.

The Carving Station here stars Roasted Lamb that’s pink within, and cuts like butter, as well as a medley of roasted vegetables.

Pizzas aren’t included in the buffet menu, but should you find yourself drawn to the wood-fired pizza oven here, there is the option to add on any of their sourdough pizzas off the a la carte menu. Go for the Diavola ($26++), a lightly spicy pepperoni pizza, or the Porcini Mushroom ($26++), topped with fontina cheese and truffle.

I know many a buffet-lover who smashes their way through the sashimi and sushi at these all-you-can-eat affairs. At Greenhouse, there’s a hearty selection that’s guaranteed to satisfy every craving.

Whether you prefer maki rolls or nigiri sushi, there’s lots to go for, including your classic California Maki, Tempura Maki, Unagi Nigiri Sushi, and more. These are all made fresh in small batches, and replenished frequently.

There’s even a binchotan-fired grill for yakimono items such as Tori Mono or Saba Shioyaki!

With the Dusit Thani brand hailing from The Land of Smiles, you’d not be remiss to expect that the Thai Kitchen serves up legit Thai fare.

Off the counter, you’ll get the requisite Thai soup━Tom Yum Goong━but order it off the a la carte menu ($24++) for a version that comes with large, succulent river prawns.

This tom yum soup is not a tame affair. It’s rich and milky, bodied with the prawn stock that makes up the base of this broth.

Another dish you can expect from the Thai Kitchen is Gaeng Kiaow Waan Gai, AKA Thai green curry chicken. This addictive, creamy curry, loaded with boneless chicken pieces and Thai eggplant, is also available on the a la carte menu for $25++, accompanied by Jasmine rice.

While you’re at this station, don’t miss the Phad Prik Gaeng Moo, or stir-fried pork belly with long beans in dry red curry. Pair it with Som Tum, the ubiquitous Thai green papaya salad, and Kai Look Koey, a deep-fried, hard-boiled egg with a sweet-sour tamarind dressing.

It’s an additional expense on top of the buffet, but the Pad Thai Goong ($26++) is a must-order. It comes wrapped in an egg net pillow, topped with large, meaty prawns stir-fried in tamarind sauce.

For more Asian nosh, head to the Chinese Kitchen, where you’ll find heated trays of BBQ Honey Pork, AKA char siew, Roasted Pork Belly, and Cantonese Roast Duck

Then, go for Wok-Fried Tenderloin Beef Cube with Chinese Barbecue Sauce and Braised Garoupa Fish Belly with Bean Curd Skin and Eggplant, which you can have alongside easy favourites such as Braised Soy Soya Sauce Chicken Mid-Joint. Wash it all down with a soul-warming Double-Boiled Fig Leaf Gourd with Pork Rib Soup.

Finally, there’s the Indian Kitchen, with a live tandoori station. Opt for their Goan Fish Curry, slow-cooked with tomato paste and coconut milk, to dunk the pillowy-soft naan in.

Expect a bit of a wait when you place an order for the Tandoori Chicken, served piping hot.

You’ll also find a whole dessert spread with assorted Nyonya kueh and sweet treats, including Pulut Hitam Cake, Mango Panna Cotta, and a Thai dessert of the day.

When you’re done feasting, continue to lounge at Greenhouse with Nam Takrai Bai Toey ($8++), a soothing lemongrass pandan drink that you can get hot or iced, or Cha Yen ($8++)━Paradise Thai Iced Tea.

Priced at $62++ for adults and $31++ for children under the age of 12 from Mondays to Thursdays, the dinner buffet at Greenhouse is pretty bang-for-your-buck, with its wide selection of tasty grub. At lunchtime, it’s priced at $52++ for adults and $26++ for children from Mondays to Fridays.

If you’re coming on weekends and public holidays, it’s still on the affordable end of things, costing $58++ at lunch and $68++ at dinner for adults, as well as $29++ and $34++ for lunch and dinner respectively, for children.

The lunch buffet runs from 12pm to 2:30pm and dinner buffet from 6pm to 9:30pm, so there’s no need to rush for your food! Do note that the buffet menus are updated on a rotational basis.
