First Street Teochew Fish Soup is well-known for two reasons: their impressive sliced fish soup and hunky hawkers. Come 5 March, between 10am and 3pm, this family of hunks will be giving out free fish soup, while stocks last.

Having tried the sliced fish from First Street Teochew Fish Soup, I can vouch for its quality and freshness. For the promotion, the stall will be offering three types of fish soup – pomfret, batang, and red garoupa. Their Pomfret Fish Soup is my personal favourite. Each morsel of fish is plump and tender, pairing well with the clear but sweet broth.

With rice or noodle, this dish is the most expensive item on the menu, setting you back $11.50. Arriving before 10am would be the best, lest you find yourself being left with the less expensive, but still great options, such as the Batang Soup ($6.50) and Red Garoupa Soup ($9.50).

This event is a marketing initiative by the online supermarket and delivery service RedMart, showcasing its Freshness Recognition Campaign. First Street Teochew has their fish supplied directly from RedMart, and this campaign seeks to show how ordering from them guarantees products as fresh as what is served at this famous hawker stall.
So before heading down to ask “What’s cookin’, good lookin’?”, give RedMart’s Facebook page a like, or their Instagram page a follow to redeem the free soup.

This promotion is only for dine-in and each customer is entitled to just one fish soup. Regulars would be glad to know that adding extra ingredients such as mee sua or minced meat, which gives an extra oomph of flavour, will be allowed but is chargeable.
If, like me, you love all free things, mark this date down on the calendar, gather all your makan kakis, and make your way down early in the morning!
Address: 1014 Upper Serangoon Road, Double One Kopitiam, Singapore 534752
