Fact: Gudetama is our spirit animal. Or egg, to be exact, but that doesn’t really matter as much as how this lazy Sanrio character speaks to our souls. From dragging ourselves out of bed to wanting to hide our face every time someone starts a conversation, Gudetama gets our need to avoid the real world.
And someone gets our love for this little cartoon because we just got word that a Gudetama-themed cafe is coming to Singapore! Slated to open at the end of November, this cafe is taking over Robert Timms at Suntec City and a photo on the Gudetama Cafe’s website gave us a little sneak peek of what’s going to be available:
From waffles to eggs and toast, it seems like we can expect brunch faves here. According to her Facebook post, food stylist Shirley Wong AKA @littlemissbento on Instagram is also roped in on creating dishes for the menu, which means highly Instagrammable Gudetama dishes will soon be born. For the unfamiliar, check out the magic Shirley makes on Instagram:
While we don’t know exactly what’s going to be on the menu, 1 thing is for sure: expect LONG queues. Judging by queues formed outside Hello Kitty, Pompompurin and Pokemon cafes when they first opened, 3 hours would be a safe bet for hardcore Gudetama fans who feel the need to be here on their opening day. And if you need some entertainment while queueing, try asking Gudetama some existential questions here.
Address: 3 Temasek Boulevard, #01-361, Suntec City West Wing, Singapore 038983
Opening date: End-November
