Ho Chiak Lok Lok Mini Hot Pot In Geylang

To many, lok lok is the quintessential Malaysian street food, and it’s a shame that we can’t simply head down to JB for some of those tasty skewers at the moment. If you’re looking for a good place in Singapore to get your lok lok fix, check out Ho Chiak Lok Lok Mini Hot Pot in Geylang. The stall is a 10-minute walk from Paya Lebar MRT Station and opens till 12am every day, making it a great supper spot.

Ho Chiak was started by best friends Eileen and Chin Sze who, driven by a passion for the culinary arts and hopes for a better future, decided to try running a food stall after getting retrenched during the pandemic. Realising that there was a demand for lok lok in Singapore, the duo rode the wave with a lok lok stall of their own.

Opening a food business amid these trying times was difficult, of course, but with the support of their family and friends, Eileen and Chin Sze took the plunge and began serving lok lok with a unique twist: providing Chinese-style hot pot broths for you to cook your skewers in!

While you can still have your lok lok boiled or deep-fried, Ho Chiak also lets you dunk skewers into a simmering mini hot pot ($3 per pot) with six soup bases to choose from: Mala, Mushroom, Tomato, Picked (suan cai), Tom Yam, and Nutrition Chicken.

Each mini hot pot is fit for one, so there’s no need to quibble with your friends over which soup base to get for the whole group—everyone gets what they want!

Each skewer ranges from $0.80 to $1. With a wide variety of meat, vegetable and seafood skewers to choose from, you’ll be able to have your fill at an affordable price.

One of the best things about Ho Chiak is their five homemade sauces to dip your already-flavourful skewers into, namely Specialty Chilli Sauce, Thai Seafood Chilli Sauce, Sambal Belacan Sauce, Satay Sauce, and Vietnam Sweet Chilli Sauce. These condiments are free-flow, so you can have as much of these tantalising sauces as you want.
