Yun Ga Traditional Korean Restaurant is one of the more popular and well-known eateries in Katong V, and for good reason. The wide variety of Korean fare it serves is said to be authentic and delicious, and that’s enough to keep its patrons coming back.
Dishes offered here include hotplate dishes such as Pan Fried Pork and Kimchi ($20++), nourishing soup dishes including Soonbudu (from $12++), and hearty steamboat dishes such as Army Soup ($40++). Burrata Joy & Gustavo Lapasta’s offerings are centred around this cheese, and if fans of the place are to be trusted, the restaurant delivers the kind of burrata I was talking about earlier.
Start with a treat such as the Cold Cut Platter ($19++), which consists of mortadella ham, salami, and parma ham, and be sure to add Burrata (from $9++) on top of it. Then, move on to mains including Aglio Olio ($16++) or Alfredo Peas and Chicken ($22++), ideally with some burrata on top, too. Tomi Sushi is known for its high-quality, authentic sushi that uses excellent ingredients. In addition to its wonderfully fresh seafood, the rice used here is Niigata Koshihikari rice, considered by many as the best in Japan. There are simple, wholesome, and plenty substantial bread such as the Sourdough Wholemeal Loaf ($13.80 for two pieces) here, along with more tantalising picks such as the Japanese Premium Cream Cheese Bread ($5.80 for two pieces) and the Matcha Croissant ($5.80). As its name suggests, Wine Mansion is known for having a collection of excellent wines for you to purchase. But if you’d like to wine and dine, there are a bunch of reliable eats here, too. There are 10-inch pizzas such as the classic Margherita ($16++) and Tom Yum Seafood ($24++), as well as hearty mains including Grilled Chicken ($18++), Beef Stew ($22++), and Harissa Baked Barramundi ($22++). If you’re mostly there to savour wine and would like lighter snacks, though, the Cheese Platter (from $24++) is a good pick.

Opened by a Macedonian couple, Yugoslavia Bakery & Cafe offers legit European pastries that are traditional snacks in their homeland. There are pies, such as Burek (from $5.40), which are filled with either beef, spinach and feta cheese, or just feta cheese. There are also Yugoslavian milk buns called Kifla ($2.60), which can be filled with either sweet stuff such as chocolate hazelnut or savoury ingredients including ham and cheese. Get these with a cup of Balkan Coffee($4.80) to complete the experience.

The restaurant serves Peranakan-fusion that’s innovative yet accessible. Dishes such as the Braised Beef Rendang ($32++) and Slow-cooked Braised Beef Cheek with Buah Keluak ($38++) will undoubtedly appeal to fans of Peranakan food, while fusion picks including Deep Fried Nyonya “Crab Cakes” ($26++) will excite.
