9 Late-Night Dim Sum Spots That Open Past 2am For Post-Clubbing Feasts

Late-night dim sum fixes around town

Plump har gao, flakey egg tarts, runny liu sha bao – with so many options, it’s no wonder dim sum is such a crowd-pleaser. Though there’s nothing quite as satisfying as having baskets of dim sum for breakfast, there’s no reason why we can’t enjoy it for supper as well. So whether it’s 2am and the gang is having post-clubbing munchies, or if you’re just a fellow dim sum lover that can’t get enough, here are some late-night dim sum spots to check out.

1. Kuai San Dian Xin

If there’s one thing that’s better than a 24/7 dim sum joint, it’s an affordable 24/7 dim sum joint. Kuai San Dian Xin is a stall at Woodlands that offers baskets of dim sum at just $1.30 each. From chee cheong fun to siew mai and har gao, you’ll be able to find most of the classics here. Even the more filling items, such as Century Egg Pork Porridge ($1.30), are priced at $1.30.

2. Tang Tea House

The halal-certified Tang Tea House caters to larger groups. Their Multi Flavour Pau ($7.60+) is great for sharing. This basket comes with several kinds of bao, including yam, kaya, coffee, lotus, red bean, and BBQ chicken. Steamed Chicken Dumpling ($4.70+) is their take on xiao long bao, and it replaces pork with juicy, well-marinated chicken. For those who want to indulge in something more sinful, get some Deep Fried Shrimps Dumplings with Mayonnaise ($4.70+). These crunchy dumplings come with juicy prawn fillings and go wonderfully with a side of creamy mayo.

Opening hours: Sun-Thur 11am to 2am, Fri-Sat & PH 11am to 3am

3. Mongkok Dim Sum

Mong Kok Dim Sum is yet another 24-hour dim sum joint that’s worth a visit. If you’re there with a group of friends, order their 3 Yolk Crab Porridge ($9) to share. This large serving of congee comes with substantial pieces of real crab meat, and is topped with chopped century egg, soft-boiled egg yolks, and crumbled salted egg yolk. Other impressive dishes include their runny Custard Bun ($4.20) and deep-fried Yam Pastry w Meat Filling ($4.20). Their version of liu sha bao bursts with rich, slightly salty custard, while their yam pastries are made with creamy yam filling and a crispy outer shell. Only their outlet at Geylang is open 24/7, so be sure to head to the correct location!

4. 126 Dim Sum Wen Dao Shi

126 Dim Sum Wen Dao Shi is another 24/7 dim sum eatery at Geylang. I’m not a big fan of porridge, but their thick Century Egg Porridge ($3) is a game changer. Their Chee Cheong Fun ($3.80) is also another crowd-favourite, and you can choose from three fillings: prawns, mixed mushrooms, and char siew. Siew mai lovers should also get a plate of King-sized Siew Mai ($4.50) to enjoy a plump, jumbo-sized version of their favourite dumplings.

5. Enak Enak Hongkong Tea House

Enak Enak Hongkong Tea House is a halal-certified eatery that replaces pork with chicken or other types of meat in pork-based dim sum items. Try their version of classics such as Siew Mai ($2.50) and Har Kow ($3.50). An interesting take on xiao long bao is their Shanghai Steamed Dumping with Chilli Crab ($5.40). These dumplings come stuffed with a tasty broth and spicy chilli crab filling for an extra kick.

89.7 Supper Club houses a variety of halal-certified stalls that specialise in different cuisines, including dim sum. This is perfect for big groups that can’t decide on what to eat, because you’ll be able to get your dim sum fix even if all your friends aren’t craving it. Some of the more popular dishes they offer include Steamed Salted Egg Pau ($2.40), Pan-fried Chicken Dumpling ($3.20) AKA chicken guo tie, and Steamed Rice Roll with Shrimps ($3).

7. Tim Ho Wan

Though this is one of the pricier options on the list, Tim Ho Wan still impresses with their more uncommon dishes and great (read: air-conditioned) ambience. Their Baked Bun with BBQ Pork ($5.40++) is a must-order whenever you visit. Unlike run-of-the-mill char siew bao, they replace the doughy, white bun with a thinner pastry. If you’re a fan of sweet-salty combinations, the crispy, sugary skin and savoury char siew filling will surely impress. For those with a lighter palate, order their Steamed Egg Cake ($4++). This fluffy cake has a slightly sweet, caramel flavour and is a great way to end your meal.

Address: 12 Kallang Avenue, #01-01/02/03, Aperia Mall, Singapore 339511
Opening hours: Sun-Thur & PH 9am to 11pm, Fri-Sat & Eve of PH 9am to 3am

8. Johore Ye Zhi Mei Handmade Bao

Famous for their gigantic meat bao, Johore Ye Zhi Mei Handmade Bao is open 24 hours for six days. They offer quite a number of siew mai, including Prawn Siew Mai ($2 for two pieces), Century Egg Siew Mai ($1.80 for three pieces), and Salted Egg Siew Mai ($1.80 for three pieces). Of course, one thing you can’t miss is the huge Ye Zhi Mei ($3.20) bao, which you’ll have to share with at least one other person.

9. Swee Choon

Swee Choon is probably the first name that pops into your head when you think of late-night dim sum, and for good reason. Though this go-to supper spot does classics like Char Siew Pau ($1.80) and Shanghai Xiao Long Pau ($4) well, you should also get your hands on a plate of their signature Swee Choon Mee Suah Kueh ($2). This is made by topping carrot cake with mee suah before frying the entire thing. The crispy, thin mee suah strands add another layer of flavour and texture to the soft carrot cake, making for a satisfying dish to share with friends.

Address: 183-191 Jalan Besar, Singapore 208882
Opening hours: Mon-Sat, 11am to 2:30pm, 6pm to 6am, Sun & PH 10am to 3pm, 6pm to 6am
