This New Retro Diner Has Loaded Hotdogs From $4.80 In Jalan Besar

Lecker Hotdog is a new hotdog joint in Jalan Besar

There’s a new kid on the Jalan Besar block: Lecker Hotdog, a retro diner serving affordable loaded hotdogs from just $4.80!

They’re located within the food court of ARC 380, an eight-minute walk from Bendemeer MRT Station.

The cosy eatery boasts ample seating and a clean dine-in environment. The space is decked in retro-inspired posters and bold red cushioned chairs to complete the look.

The cheapest item is their Classic American Hotdog, priced at $4.80 a la carte or $7.90 as a combo with fries and a drink. You get a soft bun with a regular hotdog, topped with ketchup, mayo, and mustard, finished with three pickle slices. The sausage itself had a decent snap and was juicy enough, with the crunchy pickles and sauces elevating it above your run-of-the-mill hotdog.

If you don’t mind spending a little more, consider their Mexican Dirty Hotdog ($6.80) or Texas Bolognese Sauce Hotdog ($6.80). The former comes loaded with what looks to be minced pork and onion, while the latter is a classic tomato-based meat sauce topped with extra ketchup. These are more indulgent picks than the Classic American Hotdog, especially with how generous they are with meat—in fact, they were a little difficult to eat without the minced meat spilling everywhere.

Those who love Korean-inspired flavours can opt for the Corn Cheese Hotdog ($5.80), where the classic sausage is topped with a cheese and sweet corn blanket. Otherwise, the Korea Chicken Bulgogi Hotdog ($6.80), loaded with sweet bulgogi and minced chicken mix, is our personal favourite. It impressed me with its tender minced chicken and sweet, smoky bulgogi sauce, making each bite flavourful and satisfying.

Otherwise, we’ve got our Bendemeer food guide for the best food places in the area, including a late-night gelato cafe and a retro Taiwanese diner.
