Mnemonic Brew is a new cafe in the CBD with unique coffee

If you frequent the CBD, you may have come across Mnemonic Brew, a new cafe on the second level of Oxley Tower.

Having opened just a few months ago, the hidden coffee spot is still fairly under-the-radar. Online reviews tout the space as being small yet cosy, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the busy CBD traffic.

You’ll find classics such as Mocha ($7) and Latte ($6), along with a few non-caffeinated picks such as Honey Milk ($4) and Signature Chocolate ($6). There’s also a small selection of pastries on display.

What sets this cafe apart from the others is their special coffee menu, which includes interesting concoctions such as Smoked Cinnamon Latte ($7 for hot, $7.50 for iced), served with a burnt cinnamon stick for added aroma. Their Sea Salt Coffee ($8) and floral-infused Osmanthus Latte ($7 for hot, $7.50 for iced) are popular picks too.

If you prefer something lighter on the palate, go for Thyme on the Rocks ($8), a signature mocktail complete with a sprig of fresh thyme.

Besides coffee, the cafe offers a small range of brioche sandwiches, great if you want a light bite. The Bearnaise Chicken ($10.90) sandwich stars tender chicken chunks slathered with a creamy béarnaise sauce that’s similar to hollandaise. Those who want something more breakfast-forward can opt for the Picocado ($10.90) instead, which comprises avocado slices and salsa.

Do note that the cafe is a small space, so it might be hard to snag a seat during the peak lunchtime hour. The nearest train station is Shenton Way MRT Station, a six-minute walk away.
