Popular Mincheng Bibimbap Opens In Funan, Along With Legit Banh Mi, Hot Stone Pizzas And More

Mincheng Bibimbap and more new eateries open in Funan

If we are in City Hall and looking for a place to dine, Funan is our go-to, and for good reason. The sprawling mall has myriad dining options that cater to all vibes and cravings, so there’s always something for everyone. Plus, they tend to have new and exciting F&B tenants to keep things fresh, and this month is no exception as the mall has five new eateries worth checking out.

First up is Mincheng Bibimbap (#01-13), a popular Chinese-Korean eatery with over 400 outlets globally. As their name suggests, they’re most famous for their freshly prepared bibimbap, as well as their house-made kimchi.

A must-have is their Beef Bibimbap ($9.80), which is served in a sizzling hot stone bowl. Each portion is generously topped with a medley of veggies and a fried egg, making this bowl super filling, despite its under-$10 price tag. The hot stone bowl also resulted in crispy rice bits at the bottom of our bibimbap—we all know that’s the best part.

The bibimbap is available with Pork ($8.80) if you don’t take beef. You can also enjoy it with cheese!

If bibimbap isn’t your jam, get their Hotplate BBQ Beef ($12.80) or Pork ($10.80) instead. The pork is our pick, starring well-marinated meat that is delightfully spicy.

The restaurant also serves free-flow kimchi and rice, so you can feast to your heart’s content.

Sticking to the same Korean food vein—popular Korean street food eatery Seoul Bunsik (#02-02) has recently opened in Funan too! They’re famed for offering a wide range of Korean street food staples, from ramyeon to corndogs.

At Funan, they also offer a Daily Lunch Special ($13.90), featuring a dosirak, AKA Korean lunch box.

Flavours change daily, but you can expect a protein, rice, and a medley of freshly made banchan. If you work in the area, this is an A+ lunch option!

If you prefer to dig into street food, then go for the Gimbap and Tteokbokki Set ($14.90). This three-in-one medley features a freshly made gimbap roll filled with the works—spam, pickled radish, and veg—a side of boneless fried chicken, and a spicy, comforting portion of tteokbokki.

Funan also has a great selection of casual restaurants for unwinding after a long day. Mingle Bistro (#02-17), is one such bistro. Their extensive menu is built upon Italian-Asian flavours, with hot stone pizzas as a speciality.

Try the Mortadella Burrata Pizza ($30++), topped with a generous amount of creamy burrata. The pizza includes toasted pistachio and sweet cherry tomatoes that cut through all the cheese.

Pasta lovers, go for their White Wine & Chicken Collagen Broth with White Clams & Black Mussels ($26++). This fusion take on vongole features a broth infused with collagen chicken stock and a generous amount of shellfish.

Mingle Bistro also has a range of house cocktails priced from $15 for happy hour. The Pistachio Martini Cocktail ($17) goes hand-in-hand with the dishes above. Gin, Bailey’s, pistachio syrup, fresh cream, and milk all combine to create a drink that could almost double as dessert.

For something more formal, go up to the seventh floor and dine at The Upper House Grill & Bar (#07-38/39). Their menu spotlights grilled meats and dishes, all made with locally sourced ingredients where possible.

The Seafood Aglio Olio ($20++) comes highly recommended. Here, garlicky al dente pasta meets a variety of fresh seafood, including juicy prawns.

For something more classic, the Grilled Chicken Chop ($20++) is the move, starring a tender, chargrilled slab of chicken thigh.

Elevate your meal with The Upper House’s respectable selection of tipples, from house cocktails to aged whiskies and fine wines.

Those looking for more casual or grab-and-go eats can mosey over to Ngon Baguette (B2-K09). Ngon means “tasty” in Vietnamese, and they certainly deliver with their selection of hearty banh mi.

The Pulled Pork Banh Mi ($11.90) is a signature here, and for good reason.

A toasted baguette is packed to the brim with tender, flavourful pulled pork, layered with pickled vegetables that add a bit of zing to each bite.

Pair this with their Vietnamese coffees for a pick-me-up. The Vietnamese Iced Milk Coffee ($2.70) is the perfect caffeine fix for a hot day—cold, sweet, and power-packed with caffeine thanks to the traditional drip method.

The next time you’re in the City Hall area and feeling peckish, check out these new Funan eateries!
