When we did our Pastago review earlier this month, we were impressed by the quality and variety of their pasta, made fresh on-site daily. If their JCube location is too far for you, there’s good news: the takeaway kiosk has opened another outlet, this time in Tiong Bahru Plaza!
Located on Basement 1 of the mall, right beside FairPrice Finest, the kiosk offers the same menu as its first outlet in JCube. Choose from six dishes: Aglio e Olio, Carbonara, Marinara, Al Limone, Beef Bolognese, Chicken Bolognese. Have them plain, or top up for add-ons such as shimeiji mushrooms, smoked salmon, and seared prawns.
The cheapest item on the menu is the Aglio e Olio, which will set you back just $4.90. Protein up with some grilled chicken or seared prawns by topping up $2, or get some smoked duck (+$2.50) or smoked salmon (+$3) for an extra-savoury hit.
There’s also the popular Beef Bolognese ($7.90), a hearty dish served with their recommended pasta: Pappardelle. If you prefer, you can also opt for Fettuccine, or the less-common Mafalde or Campanelle instead.
Add on a sous vide egg at just $1 and snap the perfect yolk burst shot. Then, mix it all together and enjoy; the creamy egg complements the meaty house-made ragu, while the thick and long sheets of Pappardelle soak up the saucy goodness.
Do note that everything is prepared in small batches—including the pasta—so some waiting is to be expected. Each order is cooked fresh, which means you’re getting your pasta piping hot!
Pastago’s new outlet is conveniently located next to Tiong Bahru MRT Station, so you can easily hop off the East-West line to get your fix of affordable and customisable pasta if you’re nearby.
For more fresh pasta to try, check out our Tangled review, another takeaway kiosk that offers unique pasta flavours including Black Pepper Crab. Otherwise, if you’re celebrating a special occasion, head to Forma at Joo Chiat for date night-worthy handmade pasta, juicy steaks and more.
