This TikTok-Viral Cafe In Canggu Has A Mesmerising Rooftop Aquarium And Huge Matcha Croissants

Rabbithole Bakery Project in Canggu Bali has fresh pastries

After seeing a viral TikTok video of Rabbithole Bakery Project, a relatively new cafe in Canggu, we decided to go down and check out their enchanting “flying fish” concept.

As you approach the cafe’s entrance, you’re greeted by a mesmerising sight of koi fish in a rooftop aquarium. As my colleague and I wanted to be one with the fishes, we opted to sit at the outdoor tables, which allowed us to enjoy our meal with a view of the fish above us.

If the Bali heat proves unbearable, head inside the cafe’s air-conditioned space, which sports an industrial look complete with wooden tables and chairs for a touch of nature. There’s also a feature wall beside the counter displaying some of the brand’s merchandise such as t-shirts and tote bags.

Rabbithole Bakery Project is best known for their huge croissants, which come in a variety of flavours, including taro, almond, and coconut. To try these yummy treats, you’ll have to approach the display counter and place your order with the staff.

The bakery’s bestseller is the White Chocolate Croissant (IDR35K/~S$3.13), stuffed with vanilla bean custard, chocolate filling, and strawberry cream. It’s beautifully decorated with edible dried rose petals. There’s also the Matcha Croissant (IDR28K/~S$2.51), which sees the same airy croissant with an earthy matcha filling.

The croissants here are suitable for those who don’t like overly creamy pastries, as the filling only takes up a small portion of its centre. Attention then shifts to the pastry itself—its crisp golden-brown crust collapses into flaky goodness as you bite into it. The croissant’s inner layers are soft and light, without any doughiness.

The cafe also serves mains, with usual brunch items such as I’m Bennydicted To You (IDR75K/~S$6.72)––two poached eggs perched atop house-made croquettes, served alongside smoked salmon, sauteed spinach, and kale.

Pair your meal with a cup of Moringa Matcha (IDR35K/~S$3.16), featuring a creamy blend of moringa, matcha, and milk. If you love strong flavours, this one will be right up your alley as it has distinct herbal and earthy notes.
