To me, Valentine’s Day is but a commercialised excuse; showing your love should be an everyday thing, not just an act on 14 February. If you’re not into surprising your date with flowers and heart-shaped chocolates, you can bring him or her out for a date at these romantic cafes with Insta-worthy desserts instead. Here’s a list of romantic cafes to consider!
IPluseighttwo is a new cafe co-founded by BTOB’s Seo Eunkwang. Located at Rendezvous Gallery, this dessert cafe will win your heart with their minimal and classy decor – think Kinfolk magazine. Fall in love with the wood and marble furniture, high ceiling, polished cement flooring, and lush plants placed all around. This cafe makes a great place to chill and have a HTHT with your partner.
Pamper your taste buds with their Siltarae Bingsu ($17.90). Siltarae refers to silk-like shaved ice which is different from the ice in typical bingsu. Dig your spoon into this and feel the rich, smooth, and sweet shaved ice dissolve in your mouth. You can choose from Banana, Chocolate, and Matcha flavours. Give their Injeolmi Toast ($8.50) a try as well if you and your date want more!

Prepare to be enchanted by this cafe, which is a five-minute walk away from Farrer Park MRT Station. Just as their name suggests, Enchanted Cafe is packed with whimsical decor that will lift your mood. The mismatched chairs, trees, and plants add an Alice in Wonderland vibe to the cafe.
Pamper your date and indulge in their delightful French Vanilla Crepe Cake ($7.90). Unlike regular crepe cakes, theirs are slightly thicker, making it more satisfying. The milky and silky layers of vanilla cream with the fluffy layers of crepe are just like you and your other half – a match made in heaven. Wash it down with their Iced Ondeh Ondeh which sets you back $6.90. Its balanced fusion of pandan, coconut, and gula melaka will seal the deal and leave you wanting more.

Nestled along Purvis Street is Yummo Chow, a cafe situated in the lobby of Hotel NuVe. The white walls, marble tables, velvet-cushioned chairs give it a posh and clean look, making this a great hideout for sophisticated couples. They are located near Bugis MRT Station but hidden from the crowded areas, so keep your eyes peeled for their signboard or you might miss it.
They are doing desserts right with their Ice-Cream Tempura ($11+). Vanilla ice-cream is stuffed in a bun and then deep-fried in tempura batter. The batter gives a crunch to the dish, and the drizzled caramel sauce adds a burnt sugary taste. You’ll understand why it is their best-selling dish once you’ve tried it. If you want something more atas, they also have Creme Brulee ($8+) to fix your sweet tooth.

Coffee lovers out there, check out The Affogato Bar. For those who don’t know, affogato is a classic Italian dessert whereby hot espresso is topped with ice-cream. Tuck into their cosy corners with your date, with the smell of aromatic coffee wafting around the cafe, teasing your senses.
Get your daily dose of caffeine in dessert form with their La Opera ($15.90). A scoop of dark espresso ice-cream sits on layers of coffee buttercream, almond sponge, and chocolate ganache. Give it a shower with the dark espresso served in a petite flask and enjoy the deep flavours of the bittersweet dessert.

Wimbly Lu has been around for quite a while and they opened another outlet along the Tyrwhitt Road a few months ago. Much like their outlet at Jalan Riang, this chic cafe is illuminated with warm lights on one side and natural sunlight in the indoor courtyard seats. With good lighting comes great selfies, so remember to take a shot with bae while waiting for your food!

A must-have here is their Waffle with Ice-cream ($8.50+), a classic you can share with your special someone. Their waffles are thick, with crispy exteriors and an airy core. Their ice-cream is made in-house and you can expect flavours such as chocolate truffle, salted caramel, cheesecake, and Milo. For more of their tasty sweets, check out their good ol’ Apple Pie ($7+) as well.
