This Famous 30 Year-Old Vegetarian Bee Hoon Stall Has Relocated To Margaret Drive

Bland, boring, and expensive: these are common misconceptions people have about vegetarian food. If you’re a sceptic yourself, give Ru Yi Yuan Vegetarian a shot—it is likely to prove those notions wrong. Formerly located at Tanglin Halt Coffee Shop for over 30 years, the stall has now relocated to the newly opened Margaret Drive Hawker Centre.

Go for their Bee Hoon Noodles ($3.50), which stars savoury and peppery noodles with an assortment of fried ingredients such as beancurd skin, mock meats, and mixed vegetables. Accompany all these with pickled green chillies and a spicy sambal sauce for an extra kick. 

Do note that these noodles also come in a large portion that will set you back at $4.50. You can also choose to add extra bee hoon noodles at $0.50, and other ingredients at $1.

For a tasty snack, go for Ru Yi Yuan Vegetarian’s crowd-favourite Popiah ($1), which sports a thin and flaky skin, stuffed with juicy and savoury vegetables.

You can also to have their Mock Duck as an accompaniment to your main dish. These fragrant and crispy mock duck cutlets are said to be made of beancurd skin and closely resemble the taste of real duck meat. These are priced at $2.50 if you’d like it to be served cut into smaller pieces, and $3 if you’d like it served as a whole.
