Come the second Sunday of May, and we take the time and opportunity to express our love for the MVPs in our lives—mothers. If you’ve been thinking of bringing your Mum out for a good meal this Mother’s Day, we’ve got good news: Sengkang Grand Mall has promos for a limited time you shouldn’t miss, spanning Korean fried chicken to Japanese fusion ramen.

If your Mum can’t decide what to eat, JINJJA CHICKEN (#01-17) is one for the books. This halal-certified eatery serves up wallet-friendly Korean fried chicken!

The first 10 customers dressed in matching outfits with their mothers can enjoy 12 pieces of wings for free on 11 May and 12 May respectively. You can even choose a flavour that tickles your fancy out of these four: Soy Garlic, Yangnyeom, Monster, and K-Mala. This offer is limited to just one redemption per customer, so we encourage you to make your way down ASAP.

For a hearty meal over heart-to-heart conversations with your mother, head down to Le Shrimp Ramen (#01-81). Their Tea-Time Value Set (from $9.90) offers you the best of both worlds with the springy Chinese la mian submerged in a rich Japanese ramen broth.

Available from 3pm to 5pm every day except Public Holidays, each set features a main course paired with an appetiser and a drink. There are seven different mains, and as diehard fans of prawns, we had to go with the Le Signature Trio Shrimp Ramen.

This comforting bowl comes with house-made prawn paste, prawn dumplings, and two pieces of fresh prawns. Note that you have to pay an additional $2 for this option!

We also got a side of the Chilled Crunchy Cucumber to cleanse our palate between each mouthful of their slightly charred and robust ramen broth. And of course, it only takes a can of the Taiwan Soya Bean Milk to wash all the flavours down.

Here’s a little secret: five lucky folks can win a $20 Le Shrimp Ramen Voucher by following three simple steps from 6 May to 12 May. First, like the post on Sengkang Grand’s Instagram, and follow their account along with Le Shrimp Ramen’s Instagram. And finally, share your mother’s favourite dish with the staff.

Mums deserve to indulge in sweet treats every now and then at Twelve Cupcakes (#B1-03). Their “Appreci-cake” Mom ($25.80) is the perfect token of appreciation that feeds four people, while the vintage-esque Mom – You are the “Berry” Best ($38.80) is ideal for six to eight people.

If you prefer cake in a cup, there’s also the Cupcakes of Love, Thank You Mum ($12.50) that comes in a box of three. Each cupcake is beautifully decorated with floral frosting, which makes this set a great gift for your mother dearest.

Here’s a dinner spot with Western fare: Kenny Rogers Roaster (#01-60). Bring Mum to enjoy two mains and an appetiser at only $31.80++ till 31 May.

Out of the five mains, we decided on the signature Kenny’s Quarter Meal and Pomodoro Pasta. The former comprises rotisserie-roasted chicken paired with two sides of your choice and the must-have house-made corn muffin.

You can’t go wrong with their Pomodoro Pasta—this classic pasta dish is made using tomato sauce with lots of parmesan cheese and fresh basil.

And for the appetiser, we tried the Popcorn Squid which tasted best with a squeeze of lemon. These crispy, bite-sized bits were fried to a lovely golden brown, and we thought they paired especially well with the pasta dish.

For the Mums that appreciate local delights with a twist, bring them to Tokyo Shokudo (#01-38/39). This halal-certified ramen restaurant boasts an interesting range of ramen flavours, including Hainanese Chicken Ramen and Green Curry Ramen. You can enjoy these at just $14.90++ each till 8 July!

Their Hainanese Chicken Ramen actually tasted similar to a plate of chicken rice—it was packed with an aromatic flavour that had hints of chicken oil, and the consistency of the broth was almost creamy.

Else, the Green Curry Ramen is worth a try for a nice balance of coconutty and mildly spicy flavours. We also enjoyed the soft, springy noodles submerged in a milky broth.
