This New Korean-Run Eatery Has Legit Street Food And DIY Ramyeon At Far East Plaza

Seoul Bunsik is a new Korean street food eatery in Orchard

Korean food is having a moment lately, especially with new additions such as famous Korean convenience store Emart24 andĀ multi-concept store Market Blue in Tanglin Mall. Good news: those who frequent the Orchard area now have another lunch spot to check out! Seoul Bunsik is a new eatery at Far East Plaza that offers legit Korean street food—DIY ramyeon, tteokbokki, gimbap and many more.

The Korean-run eatery serves a wide range of nacks that are typically found on the streets of Korea. Owner David tells me that the recipes here are of ā€œKorean tasteā€ā€”the flavours are said to be as close as what you’d get in Korea.

Upon entering the eatery, the most striking thing that caught my eye was the lineup of Korean ramyeon AKA instant noodles. You get to pick from an impressive selection of flavours, and DIY ($7.80) with the automated induction cookers that were manufactured specially to cook ramyeon.

These special cookers are apparently a common fixture in Korea; you’ll find them at ramyeon-focused convenience stores across the country!

All you need to do is place your noodle of choice in an aluminium basket, add the seasoning, and press button #1. The cooking process takes only five minutes, and there are add-on options including cheese ($1) andĀ egg ($1), too.

Gimbap and ramyeon go hand in hand, so we recommend getting a serving of Seoul Bunsik’s Original Gimbap ($13.80)Ā to share.

Each slice was packed with short-grain rice, radish, egg, spam, and veggies—this gimbap tasted as if it was home-made.

You won’t go wrong with tteokbokki too, another classic Korean street snack.

A serving of Tteokbokki will set you back $13.80. The rice cakes were soft yet chewy, though we wished the gravy was a tad spicier.

Live out your K-drama moment with an order of Spicy Chicken ($19.80): boneless chicken chunks tossed in a sweet, sticky, and spicy sauce, topped with toasted sesame seeds.

Otherwise, the Cheese Corndog ($5.80)Ā will please with its crispy exterior and melty, gooey middle.

This deep-fried snack was generously stuffed with stretchy mozzarella cheese, so make sure you get your phone ready for the cheese pull!

Seoul Bunsik is located next to the drop-off point of Far East Plaza, which is a five-minute stroll from Orchard MRT Station. As there are limited seats here and most tables get occupied during the lunch hour, it’s best to visit during non-peak timings for a more comfortable dining experience.
