The Bagel Factory: New Cafe Near JB Customs With Kunafa Bagel And Tiramisu Latte

The Bagel Factory is a new brunch cafe in Johor Bahru

If your idea of a perfect morning involves sinking your teeth into a warm bagel slathered with a generous dollop of cream cheese, you’ll want to bookmark this. The Bagel Factory is a new cafe located just a mere 15-minute drive away from the Johor Bahru (JB) checkpoint.

Their bagels are made from scratch daily, and come in a large variety of flavours such as Green Onion, Blueberry, Sesame, and Earl Grey White Chocolate. But if you want to up your bagel game even further, they have unique creations such as Pistachio Cheesecake and even The Kunafa, inspired by the recent kunafa dessert craze.

I couldn’t leave the store without trying their Jalapeno Cheese (RM9.50++) bagel, and I am glad I did. The exterior of the bagel was coated in a layer of cheddar cheese, which perfectly crisped up after it was toasted. We also enjoyed the added heat that came from the Jalapeno chilli slices adorning the bagel.

We also got the Green Onion (RM18++) from their Signature Bagel menu. This bagel came with—you guessed it—an overload of chopped spring onions, topped over the bagel. The bagel was also smeared with a generous amount of cream cheese, which made for a delicious, savoury combination.

Now onto the sweet side of things. The All About Blueberries Bagel (RM18++) came with a purple-hued, blueberry cream cheese spread, which boasted a good balance of sweet, tangy, and salty. It was also topped with fresh blueberries that added pops of sweetness to the bagel.

The Kunafa Pistachio Bagel (RM20++) is a nod to the kunafa craze that took both sides of the border by storm.  A nutty pistachio paste and crunchy kataifi mix is sandwiched between two halves of a toasted bagel, before it is drizzled with chocolate sauce and topped with crushed pistachio bits. This indulgent dessert bagel was sweet and nutty, and we enjoyed the crunchy element from the kunafa.

No cafe date is complete without coffee, so we ordered the Tiramisu Latte (RM18++) and Bananananananana (RM20++). The former sees an iced latte topped with a cream foam, cocoa powder, and a petite-sized bagel, which we found super cute. The latter is a sweet banana-flavoured milk, topped with a piece of banana cake.
