Earlier this year, The Hainan Story opened their first coffee house concept at NEX. If you enjoyed the brand’s fresh, contemporary takes on traditional Hainanese dishes and snacks, you’ll be pleased to know that they’ve opened a second coffee house at Chinatown Point.

Signature coffee house dishes that debuted at NEX are offered here at the brand’s fifth location, such as Hainanese Pork Patty Noodle Soup ($7.80) and Mama Wee Curry Chicken Drumstick Set ($10.80).

For  a blend of East and West, go for the Baked Rice Cake Lasagna ($8.80), which combines typical lasagna trappings of cheese and tomato with the nostalgic familiarity of chwee kueh.

Otherwise, dig into the Pig’s Trotter Assam Curry Noodle ($9.80), starring a full-bodied curry packed with tender chunks of pig trotter.

Pair these dishes with a side of Hainanese-style toast or good old-fashioned waffles, and top them off with a spread of your choice: Avocado Egg Mayo or Rojak jam.

For as little as $1.70, you can also upgrade your toast or waffle to a set and enjoy a smooth cup of Kopi Gu You—kopi with a slice of butter!

The newest outlet also offers their limited-run collaboration with Nestlé, comprising dishes such as Milo Crispy Chicken Cutlet (S$9.90), Made with Milo Toast (S$2.20), Hainan Three Treasures (S$4.50), and Swiss Roll (S$3.70 per slice/S$11.90 per roll).

If you’re craving more coffee and toast in Chinatown, you can head over to Paaru, a Japanese-inspired cafe with house-baked shokupan and house blend coffee. Alternatively, check out Star Coffee in Bukit Merah for Hainanese breakfast toast sets with a contemporary twist.
