Get Banana Cream Pie, Sticky Toffee Buns And More At This Hidden Bakery In The West

Wheathead is a new bakery in One-north

Lately, One-north has been in the spotlight as an up-and-coming area for hidden food gems. Our team recently visited Bread Yard, where we tried affordable pasta, and SuuKee Coffee to get taro kopi and orh nee butter toast. There hadn’t been a bakery on the list until we came across Wheathead, a cosy spot nestled in a residential neighborhood.

One of the most popular items is their signature Banana Cream Pie, beautifully layered with thick caramel, sliced bananas, vanilla bean custard, and topped with whipped cream. You can try a slice (price TBD) to see if you like it, and if you do, there’s the option of getting a whole ($40).

Since we’re on the topic of pies, there’s also the Brown Butter Honey Pie ($32 for whole), boasting a crispy custard pie with brown butter, vanilla, and Australian honey, then finished with some vanilla flaky salt.

If you’d like something more filling, they also whip up sandwiches with fresh ingredients. The most recent one on the menu is the Caesar Chicken ($18), loaded with caesar chicken, romaine lettuce, and frico, which is essentially a combination of melted cheese and potatoes.

The bakery’s selection of breads and pastries changes from time to time, which means you get to try something new each time you visit. Previously, they have had Raspberry Rhubarb Slab Pie ($13), where a flaky pie crust comes loaded with a tangy raspberry sauce, as well as Maritozzi: Meyer Lemon and Tonka Bean ($6.50), a fluffy bun filled to the brim with lemon cream and a touch of vanilla flavour from the tonka bean. FYI, the latter is still available on the menu!

For easy access, the new bakery is a nine-minute walk from One-north MRT Station.
