It’s official. Famous Taiwanese bubble tea brand Xing Fu Tang will be opening an outlet in Singapore this June.

In less than two years, this brand has already built an empire of 60 outlets in Taiwan and 30 overseas. Clearly there’s something special about their drinks that’s making people clamour for more.

Adding to that impressive list of outlets is their first Singapore franchise in Century Square at Tampines. Come 28 June 2019, you’ll be able to try their famed BBT without having to fly overseas.

Their name, Xing Fu Tang (幸福堂), literally translates to “the realm of happiness” – aptly describing that euphoric sugar rush when drinking their brown sugar boba.

It doesn’t hurt that the drinks won’t break the bank either. Their famous Brown Sugar Boba Milk, for instance, will go at $5.30 – with other drinks ranging from $3.50 to $6.30.

It isn’t your typical cup of boba either. The pearls are stir-fried in woks filled with gooey brown sugar pearl goodness. This method allows for the brown sugar to be slightly burnt, giving it a stronger caramelised fragrance.

Sugar is also sprinkled on the top of the drink, and then blow-torched like a creme brulee. The result is a super aromatic cup of boba that will blow your mind away.

I would also suggest going for their Mango Smoothie & Rabbit Panna Cotta. It is an uber ‘grammable treat. The panna cotta is shaped like an adorable bunny and plopped onto a cup of mango smoothie that’s chock-full of gorgeous red pearls.

Thankfully, you won’t have to wait till their official opening in June to get a taste of their BBT. From 30 May to 16 June, you can get a hold of these cups of delight at their pop-up in Takashimaya’s basement.

If you wanna feed your boba addiction without burning a hole in your pocket, try making a cup yourself with these bubble tea recipes that are really simple! It even gives you a crash course on making brown sugar pearls!

For those who aren’t too adventurous, perhaps this list of 10 brown sugar fresh milk joints will be handy when you get tired of your typical bubble tea haunts.
