I only tried Yanmi Yogurt for the first time this year, but since that first sip, I’ve become a convert for their purple rice yogurt drink. The flagship Yanmi Yogurt in Funan is a regular stop on my evening route home, but now, things are getting just a touch more convenient as Yanmi Yogurt has a new stall in the heart of Orchard Road.
Located at basement one of Wisma Atria, this stall is a little different from Yanmi Yogurt at Funan in terms of style. Instead of pastel pinks and purples, this takeaway kiosk has slightly futuristic, industrial touches.
The space is lined with pipes and dials that nod to the lengthy 21-step layering process that it takes to process the grains for their drinks.
On the drinks front, new menu items are also available, including additions to their popular Indulgence Yogurt series, with drinks like the mapley Caramel Oats Yogurt ($5.30), which tastes like McGriddles’ pancake buns in a cup, and the Kyoto Matcha Red Bean Yogurt ($5.30), where fresh yogurt meets earthy matcha and azuki to tangy, slightly bitter ends.
Two new drinks join the 100% Fresh Fruit X Yogurt Smoothie line. First, the Mango Pomelo Sago Yogurt ($6.50), a personal favourite, sees yogurt layered with a sweet mango compote, QQ sago pearls, and pomelo for crunch. Like a portable version of the Hong Kong dessert it nods to, except healthier thanks to the yogurt, this will definitely be a new guilt-free snack I’ll go to.
The Refreshing Watermelon Yogurt ($5.30) is another crowd favourite in the making. I never knew watermelon and yogurt together would work, but the resulting drink is as refreshing as its name claims, with heft from the yogurt that makes it more filling than regular watermelon juice.
Of course, the standard menu is still available here too, so you can enjoy all the OG Yanmi Yogurt classics as well. This is the first of three Yanmi Yogurt outlets to open in Singapore, as a brand rep confirmed that they will soon open stores in Bishan Junction 8, SingPost Centre, and Chinatown Point. The dates have yet to be announced for those.
Till then, celebrate the Wisma Atria opening with a 1-for-1 festive promotion on the original Yanmi Purple Rice Yogurt ($4.80) on 28 and 29 November, while stocks last.
For more new openings in Orchard, check out Sugar Toast, a famous bakery with 15 loaf flavours which also opened in Wisma Atria. Popular “fire ramen” diner from Kyoto, Menbaka Ramen, also recently opened in Cineleisure.
Address: 435 Orchard Road, B1-44, Wisma Atria, Singapore 238877
Opening hours: Daily 10:30am to 10pm
