7 Hawker Meat Platters Huge Enough To Feed Your Whole Family

Hawker meat platters big enough to feed a family

Whenever I’m with my family or a big group of friends, zi char stalls are our absolute go-to places to eat at. But since Christmas has just passed and New Year’s is coming, it feels more festive to crowd around a table of meat platters rather than sambal kangkong and cereal prawn. If you’re looking for affordable places that can let your fambam feast over giant portions, here’s a list of hawker meat platters that will be helpful.

1. Don

With the rice bowl trend, new donburi places have been popping up left, right and centre. But nothing enticed me until I visited Jalan Besar and saw Don. I took a double take at a family of four sharing an enormous bowl of meat and rice there. Their Kyodai Don ($28.90) has six meat toppings, including mentaiko salmon, sio bak, and wagyu beef. The size of this dish can definitely keep you and your family’s hunger pangs at bay for the rest of the day.

Check out our full review of Don!

2. Otto Berlin Haus

German restaurants in Singapore are hard to come by, let alone hawker stalls that offer German food on platters. Otto Berlin Haus is one of the very few. Imagine this: a well-seasoned and tender pork knuckle with a crispy, cracker-like layer accompanied by juicy sausages, baked potato and salad; this Family Platter ($33 for two to four) is all you need to feed your hungry folks.

3. Wholly Crab at The Bedok Marketplace

Seafood gluttons, Wholly Crab at The Bedok Marketplace is the ideal spot for you! Hawker centres are great places to have Louisiana-style seafood boil, especially for those who want to get down and dirty. Combo buckets are priced at $69 for two to three people and $129 for four to five people, with a good mix of crabs, prawns, mussels, clams and sides. They offer various sauces from creamy cheese to laksa and tom yum cream.

4. Stew Küche

Stew Küche, another German stall at Bukit Merah, has won over the hearts of many in the West with their crispy German Pork Knuckle ($17.65 for half, $28.89 for whole) and Swiss Farmer Platter ($40.66). Their platter includes a whole pork knuckle, two German sausages, smoked pork loin, sauerkraut and mashed potato. These will definitely knock you out and into a food coma. The relatively affordable prices here will make you think twice about German food being expensive in Singapore.

Address: 119 Bukit Merah Lane 1, #01-40, Singapore 151119
Opening hours: Tue-Fri 11am to 3pm, 5:30pm to 10pm, Sat-Sun 11am to 3pm, 5:30pm to 11pm

5. Charco’s The Flaming Chicken

Charco’s The Flaming Chicken is a halal Western food brand that originated from Australia. Having an extensive menu of meat and sides, this stall at AMK makes it hard for anyone to settle on just having one to two things on their plate. Expect yourself to over-order at this hawker stall, especially with their Meat Platter ($42.90) which consists of ¼ Charco’s Chicken, ¼ Portugese Chicken, one rack of lamb ribs, a set of beef ribs, and rice or chips.

Address: 608 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5, #01-2771, Singapore 560608

6. Chop’s Grill & Sides

Well-known for their XXL platter ($59.90), I simply couldn’t leave Chop’s Grill & Sides out of this list. The platter comes with seven different kinds of meat and 10 various hot and cold sides. There have been loads of positive reviews on their quality as well as the value for money dishes they offer. This hawker stall will definitely keep families coming back for more. Do give them a call because their XXL platter tends to run out fast!

Address: 727 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6, Singapore 560727
Opening hours: Daily 11:30am to 2:30pm, 5:30pm to 10pm

7. MELA Food Junction

Five minutes away from Commonwealth MRT Station is Mela’s Food Junction, which is a halal Asian and BBQ food stall on the second level of Commonwealth Crescent Market and Food Centre. Over here, they serve a huge portion of seafood and meat called the Mela’s Food Junction Platter ($120 for four people, +$30 for an additional serving) that can easily feed more than four. With four types of meat and three types of seafood, this place may even attract residents all the way from Pasir Ris. Before heading down, do remember to place a pre-order for your platter at least two days in advance via WhatsApp.

Address: 31 Commonwealth Crescent, Commonwealth Crescent Market and Food Centre, #02-66, Singapore 149644
