Queue-worthy seafood white bee hoon stalls around Singapore

From lobster Hokkien mee to seafood prawn mee steamboat, there’s just something so scrumptious about noodles paired with seafood. And thanks to the seafood white bee hoon craze, more stalls have sprouted up all over Singapore with their own take of the hearty fare. At $4.50, you can easily find a satisfying plate of bee hoon zhnged with seafood and sweet broth that has been kissed by the breath of the wok. Here are 9 places around Singapore to get your hands on seafood white bee hoon.

1. Seafood White Bee Hoon

Seafood White Bee Hoon offers a variety of seafood to go with bee hoon, and highly recommended is their Seafood White Beehoon with Abalone ($25 for two people). It comes with three plump mini abalones, clams, and prawns. The broth here is naturally sweetened by the generous addition of Chinese cabbage, which also lends a nice crunch to the soft white noodles. The chef stir-fries the seafood before adding the stock, bringing about a hint of smokiness to the entire plate.

2. Chun Kee Seafood White Bee Hoon

Chun Kee Seafood White Bee Hoon sets itself apart from other seafood white bee hoon stalls by offering a spicy version that will set your mouth on fire. A terrific agreement of flavours, the Red Beehoon ($5) comes with deshelled prawns, squid, vegetables, sambal, chilli padi, and a generous serving of eggs. The eggs give the piquant broth a pleasant creaminess we can’t resist.

Hong Yun Seafood offers a dry version of seafood white bee hoon instead of the soupy one we are so accustomed to. With just one glance of the dish, you can tell they are not stingy with their ingredients. The fluffy bee hoon is fully covered with prawns, leafy kai lan, pork slices, QQ sotong, egg, and a smattering of crunchy pork lard. At $4.50 a plate, this colourful plate of noodles renders a trip down with your kakis ASAP.

4. Xing Lou Seafood White Bee Hoon

Easily accessible to shoppers in town, Xing Lou Seafood White Bee Hoon is one of my favourite places to get my seafood white bee hoon craving settled. I’ve seen many stalls in food courts selling their own take of seafood white bee hoon, but countless come short in terms of quality and taste. At $12, the beehoon comes with two whole crayfish, clams, and prawns, and is best shared with a friend. The stock is salty and sweet at the same time, while the bee hoon is soft and absorbs the addictive broth well.

Address: 2 Orchard Turn, #B4-03, ION Orchard, Food Opera, Singapore 238801
Opening hours: Tue-Sun 10am to 10pm

5. East Seafood White Mee Hoon

A true fan of seafood white bee hoon can easily tell the one served at East Seafood White Mee Hoon and the rest apart. East Seafood White Mee Hoon serves theirs in a darker broth. For only $5, you have enough to fill two small eaters if they finish the soup till the last drop – which they will. You can taste both the sweetness from the seafood and the smokiness from the char of the wok, making this one of the more flavourful seafood white bee hoon of the lot.

6. Joyous Seafood White Bee Hoon

For a more satisfying sliced fish fare, order the Lala Sliced Fish White Bee Hoon ($5) from Joyous Seafood White Bee Hoon. The plate of bee hoon first caught my eye because of how thick and fresh the slices of fish looked. They are also generous with the clams, which add a sweet tang to the the stock that has a strong garlic taste and is peppered with smaller bits of pork lard.

Address: Blk 724 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6, #01-30, Ang Mo Kio Central Food Centre, Singapore 560724
Opening hours: Tue-Sun 11am to 8:30pm

7. Prosperity Seafood White Bee Hoon

Located at Bukit Timah, Prosperity Seafood White Bee Hoon boasts a lighter version of the popular fare. Their Sliced Fish and Lala Bee Hoon ($5) comes with fish, lala, Chinese cabbage, and a plenty of pork lard. The seafood stock has a cleaner taste than other stalls’, and I never fail to crave for this whenever I’m feeling under the weather.

Opening hours: Fri-Wed 11am to 10pm, Thur 2pm to 10pm

Surrounded by warehouses, Famous JB Firewokz is a well-hidden gem in the West and is relatively quiet on most days. Here, $5 gives you a plate of saucy white bee hoon, vegetables, egg, prawns, squid, and fish. The stall also serves up zi char dishes, and is a great place for the family to feast at.

Good news for Westies! White Restaurant has opened a branch at IMM. Contested as one of the #OGs of seafood white bee hoon, their version definitely doesn’t disappoint. The entire dish is well-seasoned and flavourful, as if a broth of chicken and seafood was simmered for days. When I’m famished, this $6++ plate of bee hoon is always something I crave for.
