Even though covid restrictions are easing up in Singapore, travelling is still viewed as a risk for many. Thus we rounded up 8 food places in town that will bring your taste buds back to overseas trips in Taiwan, Hong Kong, USA and more, all with meals at an affordable price of under $15!

‘Romanticise life’ like the Gen Zs by finding a random seat in the mall to enjoy your meal while people-watching. Be your own main character and choose the kind of sauce, ingredients, and even pasta shapes you want when you dine at Little Ribbons Pasta Co. at Funan.
Variety is the name of Little Ribbons Pasta Co.’s game here, as they offer aglio e olio, carbonara, and bolognese from only $5 a pop. Fun pasta choices also include the usual linguine or spaghetti, twirly whirly fusilli, as well as bow-tie shaped farfalle. Don’t forget notable add-ons such as savoury chorizo ($2) and sous-vide chicken breast ($2).

Also located in Funan, KAZO serves up delicious sweet or savoury pastries that will definitely bring your taste buds back to Taiwan. While they are well known for their Crispy Cream Puffs ($2) and Kazu Kazu ($3.50) choux sticks, there are newer items on the menu that are must-tries too. The Taro Orh Nee Tart ($10.50 for three) has a flaky buttery base filled with creamy orh nee paste, topped with real ginkgo nuts.

While KAZO is great for Taiwanese sweet treats, Typhoon Cafe is the place to go for Taiwanese mains. Something unique to try is their Taiwan Lu Rou Noodles ($13.50++), featuring the classic Taiwanese dish with QQ noodles instead of plain white rice. If rice is still your favourite choice of carb, their Egg Fried Rice with Panko Canadian Pork Chop with Tonkatsu Sauce ($14.50++) is a must-try. It has a thick slab of savoury pork chop slapped atop a bed of flavourful rice.
CapitaStar members will be able to get the most bang for the buck here by redeeming their 1-for-1 promo from 15 April to 16 May (valid for use till 31 May). This is applicable only for the Typhoon Signature Dishes selection, but this means more cash savings for extra sides for you and your dining partner.

SG Hawker is an all-day food spot that has a huge selection of iconic hawker dishes. Some stalls are open late, making it suitable even for supper. It is a one of a kind food court that houses multiple stalls serving the usual suspects of chicken rice ($4.50), fried Hokkien mee ($5.50), bak chor mee ($5) and more. There is even the peanut sauce-doused satay bee hoon ($6), or mouth-watering satay ($8) for meat on sticks to dip with fragrant peanut sauce.
If you’re not a CapitaStar member yet, do yourself the favour and sign up with the promo, as there are free chendols (U.P. $2.50) to be claimed from 15 April to 16 May, with an order of any main.

Head to Ramen Champion at Bugis+ for hearty ramen in a jiffy. This well-known brand is a household name also because of its affordable price range. A fail-safe is their Tonkotsu Ramen ($12.80+/$15.80+) that comes with thinly sliced pork draped on the sides of the bowl with piping-hot soup and al dente noodles in the centre. You can also order their Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen ($13.80+/$16.80+) for a strong kick of spice.

Add a lil’ dose of fun to your gathering by dining at Hooters Singapore in Clarke Quay. Enjoy good service, with the all-American fare of grilled steak and full-flavoured chicken wings (from $14.90++ for 10 pieces). The latter comes in 11 different flavours, featuring less spicy sauces such as Parmesan Garlic and Teriyaki, to flaming-hot ones such as Spicy Garlic and 911!
We suggest visiting Hooters Singapore with a bigger bunch of friends so that you can easily hit the minimum spending of $60 for a $10 e-voucher, which can be used immediately. Mark 16 May on your calendar, as this voucher has to be redeemed by then, but used by 31 May.

Anyone who misses the pasar malam vibes can visit Bugis Food Street, which houses rows of stalls selling finger food and drinks—on top of clothes, electronics, and little knick-knacks, of course.
Street eats are best consumed while shopping, and I highly recommend Ned’s Crepes for something sweet, or Chick-It for saucy fried chicken cutlets. The former has a current promo where you can either get one free crepe or two free large Iced Peach Tea when you spend $10!
Address: 3 New Bugis Street, Singapore 188867
Opening hours: Daily 10am to 10:30pm
