Alice Boulangerie Launches Whimsical Pastries And A New Dine-In Menu

Alice Boulangerie has new pastries and dine-in menu

Since its opening in 2021 at Tanjong Pagar, Alice Boulangerie has made a name for itself with its collection of whimsical pastries. That collection continues to grow as the bakery cafe launches new pastry items as well as a revamped dine-in menu.

If it’s your first time dining at Alice Boulangerie, we recommend you make the Pistachio Chocolate Croissant ($7++) the first dish you order. Arguably the cafe’s claim to fame, this gorgeous bi-colour croissant sports green and golden-brown stripes on one side, with the other coated in a layer of dark chocolate.

Its insides feature pistachio crème pâtissière, house-made pistaline praline, and hazelnut ganache. The result is a richly flavoured, delightfully flaky croissant that would appeal to most.

For those who prefer to have their croissants plain, there’s the Classic Croissant ($4++). Gorgeously layered and crispy, this treat is made with 100% French AOP butter, and is well-laminated and crafted over three days to achieve the desired texture and flavour.

While the previous two pastries are beautiful to look at, the Squirrel ($14++) proves to be even more eye-catching. That’s because an adorable squirrel, made out of orange milk chocolate crémeux and 64% Manjari Chocolate mousse, crowns the artisanal pastry.

Below the squirrel is a decadent chocolate flourless cake layered with chocolate biscuit, pecan brownie, and a salted caramel crémeux that’s enrobed in a crunchy dark chocolate coating.

Equally charming is the Acorn ($14++), a delightful pastry that, as its name suggests, is shaped like a real acorn. This treat comes in four different seasonal variations, and the one we sampled was the Summer edition.

Crack the acorn open to reveal layers of delectable mango mousse, hazelnut dacquoise, salty peanut butter crunch, mango passionfruit compote, and vanilla crème Bavaroise, all enclosed within an orange chocolate shell crafted from 32% white chocolate.

As for items in the revamped dine-in menu, we suggest you start with the appetiser Scallop Ceviche ($19++). The dish features fresh sashimi-grade scallops drenched in refreshing yuzu gel, and finished with sweet and tangy ponzu sauce.

The Charred Broccoli ($15++) is another great appetiser. The combination of charred broccoli, bonito flakes, tobiko, yuzu mayo, and pickled beetroot makes for a dish that’s equal parts smoky, savoury, and citrusy.

The most popular main dish at Alice Boulangerie is the Tiger Prawn Capellini ($28++). Like with our local prawn mee, prawn heads are the essential ingredient in this dish, as it is used to create a sweet and umami-rich stock that the al dente pasted is laced with. The presence of chilli flakes and tobiko adds some heat and sweetness to the dish respectively. Finally, the juicy tiger prawns are seared before serving to give it some smokiness.

Seafood fans may want to also order the Charred Octopus with Butternut ($32++). Smoked bacon ragout, butternut squash puree, olives, and squid ink crackers are prepared with chunky octopus legs that are a joy to eat both texturally and flavour-wise. Aside from the addictive charred flavour, you’ll notice hints of curry powder in the octopus legs as well.

You can enjoy all of those enticing dishes within the well-furnished and comfortable cafe, located in Icon Village. This is one cafe worth making a trip to.
