Being awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand once is already a considerable feat, but to be awarded a total of seven times—now that is a jaw-dropping achievement. Bismillah Biryani is an eatery near Jalan Besar MRT Station that specialises in briyani. They have been awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand award from 2016 to 2023, with the exception of 2020. Besides their Michelin-approved location along Dunlop Street, there are currently three other outlets spread across Singapore!

One of their most highly recommended dishes is the Lamb Shank Briyani ($22.50). Lamb shank can sometimes turn out pungent and gamey, but seeing how patrons swear by this dish, there must be something that keeps them going back for more.

Their Chicken Dum Briyani is another must-try dish during your visit. The fragrant basmati rice is mixed with a generous amount of shredded chicken, and even better, it’s served with a hard-boiled egg on the side. A small plate is priced at $7, while a regular costs $12.50, and a large plate is $17.50.

Aside from their scrumptious briyani, we recommend getting a side of their vegetarian Samosa ($4.50). Each plate comes with three pieces, which makes for a decent sharing side when dining with your friends and family.

The menu at Bismillah Biryani is rather extensive, so take your time to explore your choices. From crowd favourites such as Tandoori Chicken ($12) and Naan ($2), to more uncommon dishes such as Chicken Liver Masala ($9), there’s bound to be something for everyone here.

For more Michelin-approved eateries, check out Bahrakath Mutton Soup, a humble stall at Adam Road Food Centre serving kambing soup and briyani. Also, find out more about Hjh Maimunah, one of Singapore’s most famous nasi padang stalls with a Michelin Bib Gourmand award.
