If you’re familiar with Singapore’s home bakers scene, you may have come across Youkneadcakes, a popular home-based business (HBB) known for their cakes and cookies. Good news: the humble HBB has just opened butter tgt, a cosy cafe in the CBD!

The new cafe is hidden on the second floor of a shophouse along Duxton Road, an easy five-minute walk from Tanjong Pagar MRT Station. It sports a clean and minimalist look, with warm wood furnishings and pops of greenery, adding to the cosy living room vibe. There’s a long table on one end, a couple of four-seaters on the other, and a few chairs lined up against the windowsill.

The food menu is rather limited,  though fans of Youkneadcakes will be happy to know that the bakery’s signature Madeleines ($7.50) are available here. Sold as a set of three, these fluffy mini cakes require a 15-minute wait as they are baked to order.

You’ll also find savoury brunch fare such as Avocado Toast ($12), starring house-made garlic butter, and Grilled Cheese ($14), loaded with gouda, mozzarella, and cheddar.

If you want something lighter, order their Maple Granola ($14): house-made granola with Greek yoghurt and fresh fruits.

In related food news, Cafe Barco is another new cafe by the popular tart bakery Wunderfolks. They’ve just popped up in the East, a minute’s walk away from Kaki Bukit MRT Station! Alternatively, read our new restaurants in July 2024 guide for other new food places to check out this month.
