Bakery Brera Opens Cafe At National Museum With Famous Cruffins, All-Day Brunch And More

Cafe Brera at Reunion opens at National Museum

If you’re big on French viennoiseries and European breads, you’d know of Bakery Brera. This homegrown bakery is most famous for their cruffins AKA croissant muffins, alongside flaky Danish pastries, bread rolls and more. Good news: they’ve just opened a new cafe in the National Museum of Singapore, called Cafe Brera at Reunion!

Launched in collaboration with the museum, the new cafe sees tall ceilings, chic furnishings, and ample natural light streaming in for the perfect IG shot.

It’s a convenient three-minute walk from Bencoolen MRT Station, and a five-minute walk from Bras Basah MRT Station.

The cafe offers some of the popular bakery’s crowd favourites, specifically their laminated pastries, as well as new breakfast items. According to founder Thrina Low, this new initiative aims to be a senior-friendly hangout spot, so some of their breads here are specifically made to be slightly softer.

Get their famous Cruffins ($5.50+), available in flavours such as tangy Lemon Curd and rich Kaya.

Each piece is baked in a muffin-esque cup, and generously piped with a cream that oozes out upon tearing.

The old-school Coconut Bun ($3+) is another must-try. This soft bun is filled with sweet and juicy coconut shreds—perfect for brekkie or a teatime snack.

Those who want something more filling can order the Cafe Brera Chicken Curry ($10.80+), a hearty dish of traditional curry with tender potato chunks, a whole chicken drumstick, and your preferred bread: Buttery Loaf, Wholemeal Loaf, Multigrain Loaf, or Baguette.

The freshly toasted baguette is an obvious choice, as each slice softens slightly when you dunk it into the creamy curry.

The drumstick is fall-off-the-bone tender too, pairing well with the savoury curry and soft potato cubes.

If you prefer to stick top the bakes, try the quintessential Almond Croissant ($5.30+), a double-baked pastry with house-made almond paste within. There are also delicious danish pastries in a variety of sweet and savoury flavours!

Complete your meal with a cup of espresso-based coffee, priced from $3+. You can get a Flat White for $5.50+, or a Mocha at $6+. The coffees here all come with double espresso shots.

In related news, Humble Bakery is a scones specialty cafe started by ex-Bakery Brera bakers! The Raffles Place cafe has unique mochi scones that are freshly baked on-site, as well as barista-brewed coffee. Another must-visit cafe is Le Matin Patisserie, which just opened at ION Orchard with savoury brunch fare and all-day desserts.
