Chin Mee Chin To Open At NEX Serangoon, First New Outlet In 100 Years

Chin Mee Chin Confectionery will open a new cafe at NEX

Chin Mee Chin Confectionery, the legendary old-school bakery and cafe known for its kaya toast and luncheon meat buns, is heading to NEX in Serangoon later this year, in Q3. This opening marks the homegrown brand’s first outlet outside of its East Coast Road location.

For those who don’t know, Chin Mee Chin has been around since 1925. They announced the closure of their Katong flagship store in 2018, before reopening three years later with a refurbished space. The brand recently celebrated its 100th anniversary last year, introducing limited-edition dishes and merchandise for fans. While details for the Serangoon opening are still limited, the outlet is expected to follow a similar setup and menu, offering familiar favourites in a convenient new location for residents in the east.

Fans can expect the same nostalgic menu that has kept the brand going for over a century, including the classic Kaya Toast and Luncheon Meat Bun, alongside new mains such as Curry Pork Chop and Braised Pork Belly with Preserved Mustard Greens.

You can, of course, complete your meal with a cup of Nanyang kopi or teh!

The old-school Cream Horn is another must-try. You get a generously sized pastry “horn” that’s light and flaky, piped with plain ol’ buttercream.

When we visited the cafe in 2025, we enjoyed their Peanut Butter French Toast, featuring thick shokupan French toast filled with sweet-salted peanut butter. Other renditions include Kaya French Toast and Nutella French Toast.

The full menu and prices for the upcoming outlet have yet to be released, so stay tuned for our updates.
