Chipotle fans, here’s an update on that Singapore opening we told you about last year: the timeline’s officially been pushed back. Chipotle Mexican Grill has confirmed that its first Singapore restaurant will now open in 2027, a year later than the 2026 date we first reported.
The delay comes as the burrito chain finally kicks off its actual Asia debut, and Singapore, it turns out, isn’t first in line after all.
Chipotle opened its first-ever Asia outlet on 2 September 2026, located along Gangnam-daero in Seoul’s Seocho-gu district. The restaurant runs through a joint venture named S&C Restaurants Holdings, formed with South Korean operator Sangmidang Holdings (formerly SPC Group), the same group behind Shake Shack, Paris Baguette, and Eggslut’s presence in Singapore.
For the uninitiated, Chipotle is a fast-casual Mexican chain known for its customisable burritos, tacos, and rice bowls. It began in 1993 as a lone restaurant in Denver, and has since expanded to include more than 4,200 outlets across the world.
Their menu is slated to be identical to those in the US and internationally. You can expect endless customisability with their build-your-own-meal concept, where they use fresh, responsibly sourced ingredients.
You can get fully-stuffed Burritos as well as loaded Burrito Bowls, or if you like your meal light on carbs, you can choose to get their Salads, as well as their Tacos.
All their meats are responsibly raised, including Chicken, Pork Carnitas, Steak, and Barbacoa (braised beef). They even have plant-based options, including the Sofritas, a plant-based protein, and Veggie, which comes with guacamole and beans.
Chipotle will face stiff competition from existing fast-casual Mexican chains in Singapore, such as Australian-born Guzman Y Gomez, and homegrown brand Stuff’d. We’ll update this article once we get more information!
