Calling all Willy Wonka fans: thereâs a new chocolate cafe in town! Chocoelf Cafe, just four minutes away from Chinatown MRT Station, offers specialty coffee, gelato, and a wide variety of chocolate products. Theyâre all made fresh at their very own chocolate factory in Jurong!Â
The 17-year-old brand is headed by Joe, a surgeon who loves chocolates, and Josephine, a chocolatier whoâs had more than 40 years of experience working with chocolate at five-star establishments, including Mandarin and Westin hotels.Â

For starters, try their chocolate bark that comes in flavours inspired by local dishes, such as kaya toast and bak kut teh. These chocolate barks are priced at $5.50 a piece, and if you prefer less experimental flavours, you could go instead for bittersweet Matcha Magic, or the highly raved Yoghurt Beetroot thatâs said to be both sweet and tangy. Thereâs also a classic Vanilla flavour. All the barks are studded with freshly roasted hazelnuts for that extra crunch.

For other interesting flavours, choose from their series of Fresh Chocolate Truffles and Pralines. Ondeh Melaka ($4.50) is their take on the local dessert, starring coconut and gula melaka, or you can go for the Earl Grey Tarik ($4.50). Alternatively, the fruit series includes Blueberry Bless ($4.50) and Passionfruit Rose ($4.50).
If you prefer to get creative, Chocoelf allows you to customise your chocolate with your choice of toppingsâsomething to satisfy the Augustus Gloop in us!

On the drinks front, you can find Ruby Hot Chocolate ($8), which is pink and citrusy, unlike your regular hot chocolate drink! Itâs made with ruby cocoa beans that give the drink its natural pink colour. Otherwise, you could get artisanal tea to pair with their chocolates, including the highly recommended Rose Lychee Tea ($4.50).Â

Whatâs more, Chocoelf is the only chocolate maker in Singapore thatâs been designated a healthier choice by the Health Promotion Board! Their chocolates are made with little or no sugar; instead, theyâre infused with natural sweetenersâreviews online still attest to the quality of the chocolate here.
If youâre looking for more chocolate cafes to visit, consider heading to Mr Bucket Chocolaterie in Dempsey; they have an in-house factory, and you can make your very own chocolate bark!
