Dark, milk, white—I love all sorts of chocolate. Besides being a great post-meal snack, it is the one flavour that I never shy from when choosing desserts due to its decadence. If you’re like me and can’t do one day without chocolate, these eight chocolate cafes in Singapore that pledge themselves to cacao will make you very happy. 


1. Laurent’s Café & Chocolate Bar

Sip on hot chocolate while enjoying the calm and tranquillity at Laurent’s Café & Chocolate Bar. Located along the Singapore River, the cafe’s famous for their wide variety of cake slices such as the rich Pure Chocolate ($11.80++) and the Chocolate Souffle ($16.50++) which is fluffy and moist.

The cafe also serves up a variety of artisanal cakes and other sweet treats, including whole cakes suitable for special occasions.

2. The Dark Gallery


Savour all forms of chocolate at The Dark Gallery, such as The Chocolate Rhapsody ($19). The cafe’s signature dessert comprises dark, milk, and white chocolate ice-cream on a bed of chocolate soil finished with chocolate meringue, tuile, and mousse. 

To better appreciate their chocolate, get the Single Origin Chocolate Platter ($14), which gives you tasting portions of four desserts including a 66% Ecuador Brownie and a 68% Bali Tart. All these are served together with notes for you to learn more about the origins of the chocolate you’re eating!

3. Mr Bucket

Fans of chocolate bonbons would be intrigued to visit Mr. Bucket Chocolaterie, a chocolaterie with an open-kitchen concept. Patrons will get to watch the intricate process of crafting bon bons made from Asian-sourced chocolate. Enjoy one of their cocoa-based beverages alongside some bonbons, available in a variety of interesting flavours such as Salted Egg Yolk and piquant Mala, the latter produced in collaboration with The Golden Duck. Otherwise, boozy gin-based ones such as the White Pea and Dark Pahit are available as well. Each box of six bonbons goes from $19 and each box of 12 from $32.

4. Angelina

This internationally acclaimed patisserie at Marina Bay Sands is famous for their Old-Fashioned Hot Chocolate “L’Africain” ($13++). The drink, which is made with a combination of cocoa from Niger, Ghana, and the Ivory Coast, is warm and comforting, with a subtle sweetness. Other chocolate treats on their menu include the Eclair Chocolat ($14++), a gorgeous choux pastry filled with dark chocolate cream and adorned with dark chocolate icing, as well as the Opera ($14++), an almond chocolate biscuit drenched in coffee and finished with a creamy mousse.

5. Chocolate Origin

Chocolate Origin doles out loads of chocolate confectionery for chocoholics, and is known for their decadent chocolate cakes that come in two varieties: the subtly sweet Original and bitter Dark. The Cuppa Lava Cake (S$5.50) comprises a warm chocolate lava cake in a to-go cup, with cold vanilla ice-cream at the bottom. For the gelato lovers, their Dark Gelato (S$5) is made using Belgian chocolate and fresh milk, making it satisfyingly rich.

6. Godiva Chocolatier Cafe

Savour Godiva’s famous chocolate in the comfort of cushy seats at their flagship store at ION Orchard. Besides their signature chocolate soft serve cones, you can also indulge in other treats such as Belgium Waffles ($9+) and Chocolixirs ($9+). The latter is a refreshing chocolate drink with flavours including Earl Grey and Chocolate Raspberry.

7. Lemuel Chocolate

If chocolate pastries are your thing, Lemuel Chocolate is home to a variety of tarts including the Liquid Gold Tart ($8) and Signature Pistachio ($8.50). The former is made from 72% dark chocolate and sea salt caramel while the latter from a combination of dark chocolate and nutty pistachio. Expect bitter flavours from the dark chocolate ganache encased in thin, crumbly crust. If you prefer to enjoy your chocolate as it is, the Sea Salt Tart ($6.50) is filled solely with rich dark chocolate and finished with a sprinkle of sea salt.

8. Awfully Chocolate

When it comes to cafes with a plethora of chocolatey desserts, Awfully Chocolate often comes to mind. For some cocoa-laden beverages, try the Fat Chocolate Hot ($7.90), great for warming up on those rainy, chilly days. If you’re more a cake kind of person, the Chocolate Mille Crepe ($8) features layers of thin yet decadent chocolatey crepes. Otherwise for something to combat the sweltering weather, get yourself some milky Double Scoop Ice Cream which goes for $8.
