In case you didn’t know, The Smart Local’s and Eatbook’s office has two ragdoll cats named Jaymee and Pika, and I personally crowned myself as the former’s favourite. To see if my feline allure extends to other furballs, I headed down to Chucky Cat Cafe in JB.
The cat cafe brand has three outlets spread across JB: Komtar JBCC, Paradigm Mall JB, and Toppen Shopping Centre, with the latter located in Mount Austin. We decided to visit the Komtar JBCC outlet in JB Sentral, a five-minute walk from JB CIQ.
The current exchange rate is RM1 = ~S$0.32 as of 28 October 2026.
For just RM24.90 per person, you’ll get an hour’s worth of playtime. Alternatively, if you’re staying for a long time, you can get the Day Pass at RM69 for the whole day, with a complimentary drink thrown in.
The space as a whole was very clean, and there was surprisingly a lack of hairballs despite housing over 15 cats. Before entering, you’ll need to store your bags in a locker and wear shoe covers. The floor is quite slippery though, so do watch your step.
Be warned: you’ll definitely fall in love with these cats. You’ll find them lounging around, either cooped up in their sleeping pods or lazing on the sofas. The cafe did warn us that the cats decked out in gold chains are less friendly than others. However, all of them were equally affectionate when we visited.
The cats’ kryptonite was food, which felt like a very relatable trait. Get their Cat Stick (RM5) to hand-feed them a stick’s worth of cat food, though be prepared to get swarmed. One of the cats even tried wrestling the stick from me, but it gave me the perfect opportunity to sneak in a few pats.
After seeing the cats feast on food, we too felt the need to order some drinks to quench our thirst. We ordered their Rose Latte (RM11.60), featuring a blend of sweet rose syrup and aromatic coffee. It tasted like a zhnged-up version of bandung, with the floral rose fragrance complementing the earthy coffee notes, though I wished the coffee flavour was slightly stronger. Those who aren’t big on coffee can get the Iced Matcha Latte (RM11.90) or Iced Hazelnut Milk (RM10.90) instead.
To immortalise your memory of the cafe, you can visit the photobooth, which offers a myriad of photo frames, some of which even feature their beloved cats.
If you get bored, you can even play console games on their Nintendo Switch, such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Nintendo Switch Sports, though you might get some curious looks from the cats.
