As a child, the only type of cream puff I knew of was tiny custard puffs sold at six for $2 at the bakery near my house. But today, the variety of cream puffs and buns available is mind-blowing. Whether you enjoy soft buns or choux pastries with a cookie-like choux au craquelin top, this list of cream puffs and buns filled with an array of flavoured custards and creams can satisfy your craving.
Hattendo brought Soft Cream Buns ($2.50) to Singapore all the way from Japan. Made in Singapore to retain freshness and quality, these pillowy buns encase a variety of thick custard creams, including flavours such as Azuki, Matcha, Chocolate, and Vanilla. The newest addition to the Hattendo Cafe is French Toast ($9), which is made using a cream bun soaked in egg mixture and bruleed, instead of the traditional brioche bread.
