Westies rejoice, as a new food spot has just opened in your hood. Decker Barbecue, known for its Texan BBQ meats, recently opened its second outlet and flagship restaurant at the Old Bukit Timah Fire Station.Â
Decker is said to be one of Singapore’s few American barbecue spots. It first opened in Robertson Quay in 2015 and built a reputation for its tender, pull-apart, wood-fired smoked meats. Here’s what you can expect if you decide to visit.
If you’re visiting with friends, get the sharing platter that serves between one ($40++) and six people ($288++). Depending on which platter you choose, you can select between two to six meats, sides, and even dessert.Â
They offer 11 types of meat, including Chopped Beef Brisket, Pork Spare Ribs, Sausages and more. They also offer Wagyu Beef Brisket and Wagyu Burnt Ends for an additional $5++ and $6++, or a huge Dino Rib for an additional $60++, if you’re in the mood to splurge. Their sides resemble Southern soul food, with options ranging from cornbread and mac and cheese to collard greens and turmeric pickles.
Other menu items feature a range of American-inspired dishes such as Buffalo Cauliflower ($14++), house-cured rillettes and pate in three flavours ($16++), and a Decker Seafood Pot ($68++). The desserts stay on theme, with options such as Banana Pudding ($12++) and Peach Cobbler Sundae ($12++).
Wash everything down with the huge selection of alcoholic beverages, ranging from draught beers to cocktails, and even a Pickleback Shot ($14++) to go with the grilled meats.
Due to overwhelming demand, Decker is walk-in-only on weekends at its Bukit Timah outlet. Wait times can go up to an hour, so do plan accordingly.Â
If American barbecue just isn’t your thing, here are some K-BBQ restaurants you can check out instead. Alternatively, Kemuri BBQ is another American barbecue eatery worth a visit.
