FairPrice Launches Exciting CNY Snacks, From Tomato Hotpot Chips To Mala Cashews

CNY snacks at FairPrice

Snacks are an integral part of Chinese New Year celebrations. They’re not just quick bites to keep you going between back-to-back house visits, but essential companions for long mahjong and card game sessions and the hours of bonding between you and your loved ones.

While the festive season often brings a flood of specialised brands pushing CNY goodies, not everyone has the patience to brave crowded snack fairs or place pre-orders weeks ahead just to ensure their treats arrive on time. FairPrice, however, has your back.

The nationwide supermarket chain has rolled out a festive snack range spotlighting familiar local flavours, so you can easily stock up on CNY goodies while doing your next grocery run.

There are plenty of snack options available, but our top picks include two returning crowd favourite potato chips and two new flavours of cashews.

IYKYK—FairPrice’s CNY-themed potato chips are a must-have, especially if you and the fam love savoury snacks. These aren’t just your standard potato chips, but come in seasonal flavours that are sure to please.

There’s Bak Kwa, an elevated version of barbecue chips with that quintessentially smoky, caramelised aroma of freshly grilled pork jerky.

Tomato Hotpot nods to the beloved steamboat soup base, packing the umami, tang, and natural sweetness of tomatoes into satisfying, crunchy chips.

These two potato chip flavours are now back on shelves, so get them while stocks last.

FairPrice’s best-selling flavoured cashews have also received a CNY upgrade, starring two brand-new options: Mala Cashews and Maple Syrup Cashews.

The Mala Cashews are a snack tailor-made for spice fiends and mala loyalists. Coated in a fragrant blend of chilli and numbing Sichuan peppercorn, these addictive morsels will keep you coming back for more.

Those with a sweet tooth will adore the Maple Syrup Cashews. Expect a buttery sweetness, almost reminiscent of caramel, sans the cloying sweetness.

The chips are priced at $2.50 per pack, while the nuts retail for $4.90 per pack.

Grab them ASAP from your nearest FairPrice outlet, FairPrice online, and even Cheers—all the better for those late-night snack runs post-mahjong.
