Fan’s Cafe: Hidden Shio Pan Bakery And Cafe At Far East Plaza

Fan’s Cafe has fresh shio pan at Far East Plaza

Shio pan: a golden-brown, crescent-shaped Japanese bread that’s salty on the outside and buttery within. This simple yet delicious treat has been gaining popularity in Singapore since 2024, with more cafes and bakeries offering it in different flavours. Fan’s Cafe is one of them: the new Far East Plaza cafe sells fresh shio pan at wallet-friendly prices.

Opened in January 2025, Fan’s Cafe mainly offers shio pan and drinks. What’s interesting is that their shio pan comes in rotating flavours, which means you can expect something different each time you visit.

Priced at $3, the Shiopan Original is a fixed item on the menu that’s said to be a steady seller.

If you want something more substantial, get their Hamu ($3.80) shio pan, where savoury ham slices are layered in the middle of the salted bun. During our recent visit, we found the bread a tad too dense for our liking, but thankfully, it was buttery enough.

The Kohi Choco ($4), which came with specks of coffee grounds throughout, fared better.

The bun was topped with a bittersweet chocolate glaze, pairing well with the fragrant coffee notes and salted butter.

Coffee aficionados can get the Latte (from $5) or Cappuccino (from $5), while tea lovers can give the popular Matcha Latte (from $5.50) a shot. We preferred the latte, as it was robust and fragrant, while the matcha was on the weaker side.

For easy access, Fan’s Cafe is located on the first floor of Far East Plaza, an easy three-minute walk from Orchard MRT Station.
