Fatcat Ice Cream Bar is a familiar name to most thanks to them setting the trend of charcoal waffles and salted egg yolk sauce some years back. This Mid-Autumn Festival 2020, they are stepping up once more to bring another stunner to the table: XXL snowskin mooncakes filled with their housemade ice cream.
The bigger the better definitely holds true with Fatcat’s XL Artisanal Ice Cream Mooncakes. With a diameter of 15cm per cake, these could easily feed a group of four to five.
For now, these are available in two signature flavours. The MSW Durian Ice-Cream Mooncake ($68), where charcoal snowskin is filled with durian ice cream that also contains swirls of the fruit’s flesh. Dusted with gold, this beauty is matched by the pastel pink Lychee Rose Ice-Cream Mooncake ($58). Pink snowskin wraps ice cream made with a trio of rose, raspberry and lychee, so it is both fruity and floral, then topped with dried rose petals.
Pre-orders are currently open for collection between 23 September to 3 October 2020, and delivery is free for an order of two mooncakes or more. Orders can be made via Whatsapp at 8828 8230.
Mooncakes are traditionally enjoyed with tea, so in that spirit, Fatcat Ice Cream Bar has another Mid-Autumn Festival offering: Pu-Er Tea Ice Cream (price TBA). This new seasonal flavour is made by first steeping cream with premium pu er tea leaves. Wolfberries and chrysanthemum are added to intensify its floral profile, making this a sweet treat fans of milk tea or earl grey ice cream will love.
Another special for the month is the Jasmine Peach Sobert (price TBA) where green tea melds with juicy peaches to refreshing ends.
