The Ramadan bazaar festivities have come to a close, but that doesn’t mean Singapore’s food fest scene is at a lull. GastroBeats 2024 is here, and will be around from 31 May to 23 June, at the Bayfront Events Space.
The event promises to be bigger and better than before, with over 50 different food stalls to feast your way through. Let’s take you through some of the foodie highlights.
Corndogs are a food festival staple nowadays, so get yours at Kwazy Korndogs. They have your classic Full Cheese Corndog ($8) filled with mozzarella cheese and deep fried so you get that perfect gooey middle, and impressive cheese pull. More adventurous diners can try the Pandan Corndog ($9), an event-exclusive that marries a sweet pandan batter with coconut shavings, a drizzle of gula melaka and a savoury cheese middle. Don’t let the name put you off, as we think the combo works surprisingly well!
If you’re there to have a full-on meal, make your way over to No Time, which serves up a shiok Collagen Chicken Soup ($16.80). This is the definition of good soup, with a gao gao collagen both reminiscent of the sort you’d get at Beauty In The Pot. Your order comes loaded with a bunch of hotpot ingredients and bee hoon.
Speaking of bee hoon, famed Cheeky Bee Hoon has a kiosk here too. Run by a former fine dining chef, Cheeky Bee Hoon is known for their elevated takes on familiar vermicelli dishes, starring handmade rice noodles sourced from Sarawak.Â
Try their Signature Cheeky Bee Hoon ($14), which features a wok hei, umami broth, topped with minced meat, veggie, pork slices, and lala clams.Â
If you can’t commit to a full meal, their Crab Dumplings ($6) are where it’s at. These come stuffed with real crab meat, and make for a great snack.
La Levain has set up shop here too, and is selling whole pizzas if you’re thinking of grabbing something to share. Try their Tom Yum Pizza ($20.80), a staff recommendation. We loved how this tasted similar to actual tom yum broth, with fresh seafood toppings, the fragrance of lemongrass, and a spicy kick.
Other quickfire highlights include SOHTT’s Mochi Croffles ($13 for threee), where you get chewy croffles, available in different flavours, and BTHL’s Fruit Chocolate Basket ($15), a winning combination of both chocolate sauce and fresh fruit.
Aside from food, GastroBeats 2024 promises a line-up of local bands, game booths, and fun activities to keep you entertained.
If you’re wondering how to get there, simply take any bus that alights at the opposite the Marina Bay Sands MICE bus stop. Otherwise, take the Circle or Downtown Line to Bayfront MRT Station, and head out from Exit E. FYI: the festival is pet-friendly too.
