Just near the entrance of Tekka Food Centre sits a busy, modern-looking stall, selling speciality coffees at super affordable prices. Generation Coffee, started by two former air force engineers Kenneth and Zender, opened in late 2020 with a mission to bridge the gap between traditional and speciality coffee.Â
Generation Coffee’s menu covers kopitiam staples, cafe-style brews, and even a handful of non-coffee drinks too.Â
Some beloved kopitiam drinks you can find include Kopi-C ($1.60), and Teh-C ($1.60), with customisable sugar levels from 0% to 120%, otherwise better known as kosong, siew dai, and gah dai.Â
As for speciality coffee, you can expect drinks such as Latte ($3.20), Flat White ($3.20), and Cappuccino ($3.20), of which the latter two are only available hot.Â
Generation Coffee roasts their beans, sourced worldwide from producers in Brazil, Ethiopia, Colombia and more, in-house.
Interestingly, they have also decided to brew all their coffee, including their traditional kopi, using an espresso machine, rather than the iconic kopi sock. This is because they want to prioritise the consistency of their brews, regardless if it’s traditional or speciality coffee.Â
Besides coffee, Generation Coffee also offers several matcha options, namely Dirty Matcha ($3.50) and Matcha Latte ($3), where the former is an earthy, roasted blend of coffee and matcha.Â
They’ve got an online presence too; you can get a bag of their coffee beans or bottled coffee at their online store.Â
