7 Giant Seafood Dishes From $28 To Jio Your Seafood-Loving Friends

Giant seafood dishes enough for the whole party

Whether it’s sharing a plate of fried Hokkien mee or having steamboat with your friends, finding a prawn buried among the sea of ingredients is like chancing upon a rare gem. The sad part, however, is that more often than not, each dish will only have enough seafood for everyone to have one piece, leaving a lone paiseh piece behind. If you are craving for seafood and are tired of these situations, we have found seven giant seafood dishes that will surely leave you wishing you had jio-ed more friends along!

1. Tom yum seafood hot pot

Whether it’s a cold rainy day or one of those days where you just crave for that sinfully comforting instant noodles, Thai Super Bowl is the place to go. Like the name of the restaurant, their signature dish is the Thai Super Bowl ($36). However, instead of serving the typical noodles with just egg, the massive hot pot is made of tom yum soup and ingredients including crab sticks, squid, prawns, and mussels. On top of the six packets of instant noodles, the generous amount of seafood will promise a filling meal for four to six people.

Crayfish, scallops, lobster balls, prawns, fish slices – you name it, they have it. Served in a single giant bowl, Fresh Generation’s Signature Seafood Platter ($28) is meant to be shared between two to three people. Even though the massive bowl brimming with seafood is probably enough to fill you up, the stall also offers handmade noodles ($0.50) and rice ($0.50) to go with the soup.

Opened by the same people behind Fresh Generation, Woon Woon Pek Bee Hoon is a hawker stall in Changi Village famous for their massive Seafood Platter ($30). With white vermicelli as the base, the huge platter comprises of fish, prawns, crayfish, and lala. While the quantity attracts plenty of attention from onlookers, they ensure that the quality does not disappoint too. Their rich broth is boiled with seafood and the ingredients are also stir-fried so as to bring out the wok hei fragrance.

4. Giant seafood Hokkien mee

Just as I thought Woon Woon Pek Bee Hoon’s seafood platter was crazy enough for a hawker dish, I hear of Mr Prawnie’s Special Seafood Platter ($36). Big enough to feed three to four people, this plate of fried Hokkien mee is not your usual fried noodles with prawns. Served in a giant plate, the heap of noodles is accompanied by big prawns, crayfish, and lobster. If the humongous plate is too big for you, the stall also offers Lobster Set ($24.90) and Flower Crab Hokkien Mee ($20) to satisfy your seafood craving.

5. Giant seafood hot pot

When it comes to seafood hot pot, ingredients like prawns, squid, and fish slices are the norm. Having an entire fish in the simmering pot, however, sounds too grand a dish to even imagine. But at Long Jiang Chinos, the Chinese seafood restaurant allows seafood lovers to indulge in just that. Their Seafood Hot Pot, priced at $128++, comes with a 700g steamed soon hock fish that sits in chicken broth and is generously doused with soya sauce, singer, and garlic. This hot pot is more than enough to feed three to four people and depending on your preferences, you may also choose to swap out some of the original ingredients for other seafood choices!

6. Prawn mee steamboat

When I think of giant prawn mee, the image of Sumo Big Prawn’s huge prawns pops into my head. For a such a simple ingredient, it is hard to imagine how crazy its variation can get. Wen Wen Pork Rib Big Prawn Mee however, will surprise you with their Seafood Prawn Mee Steamboat ($60 for two, $75 for four people). Served on a gas stove, the prawn mee steamboat comes with pork ribs, prawns, lala, and a whole crab! As for the mee aspect, the hawker stall also serves unlimited noodles tossed in their signature chilli. If the ingredients in the hot pot are not enough for you, you are even allowed to bring your ingredients to cook them in the steamboat!

If there is anything better than a hearty bowl of chirashi don, it would be Senmi Sushi’s Giant Chirashi Don ($36++). Meant to be shared between two to three people, the bowl is packed with Japanese rice and eight different kinds of seafood. From salmon to swordfish and tuna, this is the place to go to if you are a sashimi lover. If the giant don is not enough, the restaurant also serves Super California-Style Maki such as their Uni, Hamachi and Ebi Fry Bomb ($22++) and Bluefin Tuna, Uni and Tobiko Bomb ($22++).
