Singapore’s food scene is constantly refreshed with new local joints or foreign big names. It’s time to mark our calendars and put on our running shoes cause Japan’s famous takoyaki chain, Gindaco, is back to bless us with their savoury grilled balls.
If they sound familiar, it’s ‘cause they once had outlets across the island at ION Orchard, Raffles City, Bedok Point, and Jurong Point. Ever since their departure, the easiest way for Singaporeans to try their tasty takoyaki was to head to Malaysia. Thankfully, this will no longer be the case as they’re opening at JCube Jurong on 29 November 2019.
It will be easy for foodies to feast on their range of street snacks. Their Original Takoyaki are topped with mayonnaise, aonori (green laver) seasoning, and shaved dried bonito. These crispy octopus-filled balls come in various sizes, namely $5.90 for a box of six, $7.90 for a box of eight, and $15.80 for a box of 16. Alternatively, there’s the Cheese Mentaiko Takoyaki ($6.90 for a box of six, $8.50 for a box of eight, and $17 for a box of 16) for all you mentai lovers.

Besides their famous takoyaki, they also offer Okonomiyaki ($6.50), which is essentially a Japanese pancake made with vegetables, and Yakisoba ($6.50). If you can’t decide between the two, get them both with the Okonomi Yakisoba ($7.50). Killing two birds with one stone has never been this yummy.
Keep tabs on their Facebook page for more information about their opening! If you’re on the hunt for other legit Japanese snacks, head to EVERY which has a legit konbini filled with the likes of sweets, katsu, and don.
