There are plenty of matcha cafes scattered around the CBD, but none of them stands out quite like HALO Ube & Matcha. Located at 100AM in Tanjong Pagar, the newly opened spot is said to be the first ube and matcha specialty cafe in Singapore, serving up delicious IG-worthy drinks and desserts. Better yet, prices here are affordable, with menu items starting at just $4.50 nett!

For the uninitiated, ube is a type of purple yam that’s native to the Philippines. Prized for its sweet, floral, earthy flavour and vibrant violet hue, it’s a staple ingredient found in many beloved Filipino desserts.

If you’re at a loss for choices, we recommend getting their popular Ube Pound Cake ($5.50). Raved for its moist crumb, lightly crisp edges, and deep earthy-sweet flavour, it’s a treat that’s not to be missed.

The Ube Mochi Tart ($9.90) is another must-try, featuring a rich, velvety ube centre, wrapped in a layer of QQ mochi skin.

Pair your desserts with one of their aesthetically pleasing drinks, such as the Ube Matcha Latte ($6.90), blending grassy matcha with sweet, floral ube.

If you’d rather enjoy the flavours separately, opt for their Straight Matcha ($4.50) or Ube Latte ($6) instead.

For something more indulgent, order their Ube Banana Pudding Coffee ($7.50): creamy latte, topped with a hefty scoop of ube-flavoured banana pudding, finished with a scatter of crunchy biscoff crumbs.
